Decided by points tallied throughout the PGA season, only a handful of golfers make the playoffs. The 70 best scorers head to Memphis before 50 continue onto Castle Rock. The BMW Championship determines the final 30, who will compete in Atlanta for the final title.
Held in a different location every year, Castle Pines Golf Club will host this year's BMW Championship for the first time since the inaugural tournament in 2007.

There are five types of tickets fans can purchase for the event, each granting varying levels of access and benefits. It includes Grounds, Trophy Club, The Summit, Canyon Club and Centennial Club.
Those looking for the cheapest, most basic ticket should look at Grounds passes. They're available for about $140 for Thursday's round while Sunday is going for $300.

BMW Championship dates, times
The BMW Championship officially kicks off Thursday, Aug. 22 with the first of four days of play. There's plenty more for fans to enjoy in-person, though, with access to the professional practice rounds on Tuesday and the pro-am on Wednesday.
