Golf world reflects on life, legacy of Arnold Palmer image

The sporting world is coming to terms with the death of iconic golfer Arnold Palmer at the age of 87.

A seven-time major champion, Palmer died Sunday in the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Presbyterian Hospital, where he was scheduled for heart surgery. Players past and present were quick to praise the legacy left by the American, who was dubbed "a man of the people" by the European Tour.

Palmer won The Masters four times between 1958 and 1964, as well as the U.S. Open in 1960 and the Open Championship in 1961 and 1962.

Inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1974, Palmer also turned his hand to designing golf courses.
