The best golfers in the world are getting ready for The Open Championship this weekend at the Barbasol Championship and the Scottish Open. But those two tournaments aren't the only ones taking place over the weekend.
The 33rd American Century Championship will be held July 8-10. While it won't have any professional golfers in the field, there are plenty of well-known athletes and celebrities set to participate in this year's event.
There are 32 current and former NFL players in the field, including three of the most recent participants in The Match: Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes and Aaron Rodgers. Tony Romo and Stephen Curry, two excellent golfers, will also be returning to the field and Curry will be playing along with his father Dell and brother Seth in this year's event.
Add former LPGA star Annika Sorenstam, sports media maven and former Colts punter Pat McAfee and singer-songwriter Justin Timberlake to the mix, and there is an eclectic group of talent in this year's event.
The golf on display at Lake Tahoe may not be the best in the world, but the participants will surely have fun in this low-stakes, charity-centered event. And by the end of the event, one golfer will have a chance to call themselves the champion of a prominent golf tournament.
