Fantasy Baseball: Rest of season 3B rankings image

Before you pull the trigger on that fantasy baseball trade, check out our rankings by position for the rest of the 2015 MLB season. These are our latest fantasy 3B rankings for standard, 5x5 leagues based on recent performance, projected stats, playing time, injury history and other intangibles that could affect a player's value throughout the season.

We'll update these rankings at the beginning of every month, while adding/subtracting players every day as needed. Still have questions? Ask us anytime on Twitter @SN_Fantasy.

You'll notice a new No. 1 atop the 3B rankings this month. No offense to Miguel Cabrera, but Josh Donaldson has been playing at an MVP level and loves his new ballpark. Putting him No. 1 says a lot considering that Miggy, Cubs super rookie Kris Bryant and Todd Frazier also have strong claims to the throne. This position is very strong at the top, so we wouldn't be surprised to see someone else at No. 1 next month.

There are several youngsters moving into (and up) the rankings as well. Alex Guerrero, Yasmany Tomas, Jung Ho Kang and Joey Gallo all have the talent and opportunity to make huge jumps in next month's rankings and are worth buying while you still can. Also, don't forget about Maikel Franco, who's showing signs of life, and Jake Lamb (foot), who's close to returning from the DL.

2015 Fantasy Baseball 3B Rankings - Rest of Season

1. Josh Donaldson, Blue Jays (Previous rank: 2). Donaldson is near the top of the 3B list in just about every 5x5 category, and there’s no reason to think he’s going to slow down in Toronto and the AL East.

2. Miguel Cabrera, Tigers (1)

3. Kris Bryant, Cubs (3). Despite high Ks, Bryant is justifying the hype and his lofty ranking last month. He’s the real deal.

4. Todd Frazier, Reds (5)

5. Nolan Arenado, Rockies (4). Actually hitting better away from Coors Field, which is scary.

6. Evan Longoria, Rays (6). Still waiting on power, but everything else looks good.

7. Manny Machado, Orioles (9)

8. Matt Carpenter, Cardinals (13)

9. Anthony Rendon, Nationals (11). Finally off DL and will be top-10 fantasy producer if his knee holds up. That’s no sure thing, though.

10. Kyle Seager, Mariners (12)

11. Alex Rodriguez, Yankees (15). You’ve gotten all you could have hoped for from A-Rod, so explore trade options before injuries/suspensions strike.

12. Chris Davis, Orioles (7)

13. Carlos Santana, Indians (10). With power still lacking, Santana is best cast as your catcher.

14. Mike Moustakas, Royals (23)

15. Marcus Semien, A’s (20)

16. Josh Harrison, Pirates (25). Heated up in May, but will likely remain inconsistent.

17. Pedro Alvarez, Pirates (16)

18. Pablo Sandoval, Red Sox (14). Very mediocre, but still capable of a very hot streak.

19. Ryan Zimmerman, Nationals (17). At least he’s driving in runs.

20. Alex Guerrero, Dodgers (NR). For some reason, the Dodgers still haven’t found an everyday spot for Guerrero’s elite power, but they will. Buy low.

21. Yasmany Tomas, D-backs (24). Trumbo trade means Tomas should have everyday role when Jake Lamb (foot) returns. Tomas’ power hasn’t shown up yet, so you can still buy low.

22. Xander Bogaerts, Red Sox (18)

23. Jung Ho Kang, Pirates (NR). Playing time still spotty, but he’s going to be an all-around fantasy contributor soon. Buy low.

24. Joey Gallo, Rangers (NR). New kid on the block has the power to make a huge fantasy impact – when he actually makes contact. Has a good chance to stick in the Rangers lineup with Beltre and Josh Hamilton hurting.

25. Jimmy Paredes, Orioles (NR). He’s a sell-high guy that you should only be playing against RHPs.

26. Adrian Beltre, Rangers (8). Return from dislocated thumb uncertain, but the injury can’t be good for his already plummeting power.

27. Trevor Plouffe, Twins (NR). Too streaky to trust.

28. David Freese, Angels (NR)

29. Daniel Murphy, Mets (22). Slow start plus hamstring injury has him falling fast.

30. Luis Valbuena, Astros (NR). If terrible BABIP ever improves, Valbuena could be a legit fantasy force considering his power numbers.

Just missed: Chase Headley, Yankees; Maikel Franco, Phillies; David Wright, Mets (back); Will Middlebrooks, Padres; Jake Lamb, D-backs.
