Fantasy baseball team report: St. Louis Cardinals image

Who’s Hot: He doesn’t put up good power or speed numbers, but batting average and runs made Matt Carpenter one of the best second baseman in fantasy last year. He’ll continue to get on base near the top of a good Cardinals lineup. … Shelby Miller had a breakout 2013 campaign while Michael Wacha was a revelation down the stretch. Both young arms will be popular names on draft day.

Who’s Not: For the second year in a row, Lance Lynn got off to a fast start and then faded in the second half. His rotation spot is not safe with all the talented arms in St. Louis. At the very least, Joe Kelly is a threat to send Lynn to the pen. … Like all players suspended for PED usage, Jhonny Peralta faces questions about future performance. But if you like gambles, that should ensure he comes at a very discounted price this spring.

Who’s Hurt: Peter Bourjos hasn't stayed healthy, playing in just 156 games the past two years combined. He’s an intriguing outfield sleeper if healthy. … Jaime Garcia is set to return from a torn labrum. Fantasy owners should be wary of expecting Garcia to be the same player he was prior to the serious injury. … Top outfield prospect Oscar Taveras was expected to debut at some point last season, but a troublesome ankle kept him away from the majors last year. He could see big-league action at some point this season.
