Football Kenya Federation have accepted the Sports Tribunal’s ruling which saw Muhoroni Youth and Sofapaka return to the Kenyan Premier League.
The two clubs were relegated to the country’s second tier league for failing to comply with club licensing rule but were reinstated to KPL on Wednesday by the tribunal.
Speaking at a press-briefing held on Saturday at Utalii Hotel, FKF president Nick Mwendwa welcomed them to the country’s top flight but warned that the club licensing process will be done every year and so, the clubs must still work hard to meet the threshold.

“Muhoroni Youth and Sofapaka are back in the league and the federation is not against that ruling by the Sports tribunal. However, everyone must know that Caf Licensing is a process that will be happening every year before the start of the season and every club must strive to be clean.”
He used the opportunity to clarify on the promotion/ demotion criteria for the league; a system which will resemble that applied in Bundesliga where two teams are directly relegated as the third-last one involve in a play-off to determine their fate.

“This is the promotion/demotion criteria. Two last teams in Kenyan Premier League will be automatically relegated. The 16th placed team will, however, play a play-off with the third-best team of NSL to get who plays in KPL.”
He also assured Kenyans that the Chan 2018 will be hosted in Kenya hinting that the tournament organizers will soon be in the country to pitch tent ahead of the event.
