World Cup 2018 matches on Friday June 22

The first match of the day is Brazil up against Costa Rica. Brazil will be needing to deliver the emphatic performance their supporters were so hoping for against Switzerland, but had to settle for a disappointing 1-1 draw.

The Selecao know that they must win against Costa Rica if they plan on securing first spot in their group, and though Costa Rica are outsiders to qualify for the last 16, it will be no easy feat.

Neymar is a doubt heading into the fixture after he missed Brazil's two training sessions, and Tite may have to start both Gabriel Jesus and Roberto Firmino in his stead.

Iceland will be buoyed by their impressive performance against Argentina in their opening World Cup fixture where a Lionel Messi penalty was saved and both sides shared a point.

They will also be bolstered by Argentina's 3-0 troubling loss against Croatia which puts them in the clear to progress to the next round should they manage to beat Nigeria.

Nigeria are fielding the youngest team to appear this summer at the World Cu,p though possess the experienced likes of Victor Moses and Jon Obi Mikel. Their lack of cohesion as a side showed during their 2-0 loss to Costa Rica, however, and need to find inspiration if they want to stop the burgeoning force that is Iceland.

Serbia are currently top of Group E following Brazil's lacklustre draw against Switzerland, and will be able to secure their spot in the last 16 if they win their game.

If Serbia manage to qualify, it will be the first occasion that they would reach the last 16 of the World Cup for the first time ever as an independent nation.

Switzerland, however, will take positives from their 1-1 draw against Brazil where they proved to be a frustrating side to break down and showed resilience against a team hailed to be massive favourites to win the tournament.
