Nigeria head to the 2018 Fifa World Cup as the 48th best team in the world according to Thursday’s world ranking.

The Super Eagles who have failed their last four international games are the least ranked side in Group D where they have Argentina (5), Croatia (20) and Iceland (22).

In the overall world ranking, Europe still hold onto the top spot with Germany leading the pack while World Cup hosts Russia dropped four spots to the 70th position.

Behind the reigning world champions are Brazil (2nd, unmoved), Belgium (3rd, unmoved) and Portugal (4th, unmoved).

Tunisia – who will also be at the World Cup fell seven places but remain Africa’s top-ranked side.

Senegal are second in Africa and ranked 27th overall, with Morocco moving a place up to become the 41st best team in the world.

Mohamed Salah’s Egypt are placed no. 45 in the world having moved a place up the log.
