For the first time in the Juan Carlos Osorio era, the manager is making no changes to his starting lineup.
The same Mexico side that topped South Korea 2-1 will take the field Wednesday, with this match marking the first time in 51 games that Mexico has not made modifications. The manager has become infamous for making tweaks and changes, earning him the nickname Juan "Cambios (Changes)" Osorio. But after strong showings against both Germany - a match in which 10 of the 11 players starting Wednesday also started - and Korea, Osorio is keeping his base togehter.
Guillermo Ochoa again starts in goal. He led the World Cup in saves after the second game against Korea with 14.
Edson Alvarez, who at 20 years old is the youngest player on Mexico's roster, starts at right back with Carlos Salcedo and Hector Moreno in the middle. Jesus Gallardo, a converted winger who signed with Monterrey before the tournament started, is at left back.
Andres Guardado, who has been substituted after an hour of the first two matches, and Hector Herrera will be the two holding midfielders with Carlos Vela in front of them linking the midfielders to the attack. Miguel Layun will be on the right side with Hirving Lozano on the left. Lozano made his World Cup debut against Germany, scoring the winning goal, and assisted Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez's goal in the 2-1 win over Korea.
Chicharito once again begins as the starting forward, where he has worked with Vela behind him.
