Yahoo Picks Week 3: NFL DFS lineup advice for GPP tournaments image

It was a better Week 2 for our Yahoo daily fantasy football GPP lineup. The misses really came in the cheap options, with Rex Burkhead and Ryan Switzer disappointing. DeAndre Hopkins' failure to at least catch a touchdown hurt, too. But we nailed a good Matt Ryan-Calvin Ridley stack, along with big games from Saquon Barkley and Mark Andrews. When you're putting your Week 3 NFL DFS lineup picks together, you can really start considering the first two weeks of NFL data points since trends have started to form.

For Week 3's tournament lineup, I've gone back to the Andrews well again while going super cheap at wide receiver with some value plays. That leaves the QB and RB slots open to roll out Patrick Mahomes, Ezekiel Elliott and Dalvin Cook -- as good a trio as you'll be able to put together, within reason, on this week's slate. As I've done the past couple weeks, I put a higher-priced player in the FLEX spot, in part to allow you to pivot as you make your own lineups and have a bit more flexibility.

WEEK 3 NON-PPR RANKINGS:
Quarterback | Running back | Wide receiver | Tight end | D/ST | Kicker

NFL DFS Week 3: Yahoo GPP Lineup Picks

QB Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs vs. Ravens ($38). People might look to spend their salary elsewhere this week, but when Mahomes isn't the highest-priced quarterback, you take him and run. Even with Dak Prescott against Miami, it feels like Mahomes is the QB with the highest ceiling. Odds are, you'll start with an advantage over everyone who didn't play Mahomes in your tournament.

Week 3 DFS Lineups:
FD cash | FD GPP | DK cash | DK GPP | Y! cashY! GPP

RB Ezekiel Elliott, Cowboys vs. Dolphins ($33). We'll get our piece of the Cowboys crushing the Dolphins with Zeke. He broke 100 yards and a touchdown in his second game. Elliott is up to full speed, should run right through Miami's defense, and if Dallas decides to keep him on the field, he'll have plenty of opportunity to run out the clock in a big win.

WEEK 3 PPR RANKINGS: Running back | Wide receiver | Tight end

RB Dalvin Cook, Vikings vs. Raiders ($33). Minnesota wants to run, and Cook will have the shot at some home cooking against the Raiders in Week 3. He's one of football's most talented backs and is thriving in the Vikings' zone-blocking scheme. You should be able to pencil him in for his third straight game of at least 20 carries, 100 yards, and a touchdown.

WR Deebo Samuel, 49ers vs. Steelers ($14). Samuel led the 49ers in targets, receptions and receiving yards in Week 2 and caught a touchdown. He also received two carries, and that's all after seeing the most snaps of any Niners receiver in Week 1. His price is still too low.

WR Mecole Hardman, Chiefs vs. Ravens ($13). We'll take the cheaper of the two secondary receivers in Kansas City, with DeMarcus Robinson checking in at $15, to stack with Mahomes. Hardman equaled Robinson's six targets and could very easily be the one with the monster game in Week 3.

WR Damiere Byrd, Cardinals vs. Panthers ($10). I actually put Byrd into this lineup ahead of everyone else as a minimum-priced WR. He's become the No. 3 WR in Arizona, an offense which plays three-wide sets as much as anyone. He caught six-of-seven targets in Week 2, and Chris Godwin showed how to expose the Panthers' defense with shorter routes last Thursday. Byrd should receive the most targets of any minimum-priced wideout this week, giving him a solid floor.

TE Mark Andrews, Ravens @ Chiefs ($21). The Chiefs struggle against tight ends, both in 2018 and now already in '19. The Jags didn't pose much of a Week 1 threat, but Darren Waller had six catches for 63 yards in Week 2. Andrews has had two strong weeks in a row and deserves another start, especially in a game where Baltimore could be playing catch-up for the first time this season.

FLEX John Brown, Bills vs. Bengals ($20). I almost played Josh Allen in Buffalo's home opener, so I had to at least get Brown in here. The Bengals just allowed 41 points to the 49ers, and I'd expect Brown to be open a few times behind the defense in Week 3. Allen missed him on a home-run ball Sunday, too, so he might fly a bit under the radar relative to if he had caught that touchdown.

D/ST Seattle Seahawks vs. Saints ($17). Teddy Bridgewater looked awful in relief of Drew Brees on Sunday, and with Brees slated to miss multiple weeks, it'll be Bridgewater trying to solve Seattle's defense in a tough road environment in Week 3. This isn't the Seahawks defense of all, but it might put on a vintage performance Sunday.
