Week 4 NFL DFS Picks: Strategy, advice, values for DraftKings, FanDuel image

Finding value each week is crucial to success in NFL DFS, and Week 4 sees pricing get much tighter on both DraftKings and FanDuel. Thankfully, there is still some solid value across the board this week that will help you pay up for high-priced daily fantasy football picks, such as Todd Gurley, Antonio Brown, and DeAndre Hopkins.

I typically take a cash game approach to finding value plays, and many times you don’t need to overthink rostering value plays in tournaments as long as you look to diversify your lineup in other areas. Be sure to check out the RotoQL Trending Players Tool to quickly identify who the top value plays are each week.

Before we break down the Week 4 picks, remember that this article should only be part of your DFS research. The best daily fantasy players look at more than one source before putting together their lineups. My favorite place to start is RotoQL's NFL lineup optimizer, which, as always, played a big role in the picks below. RotoQL’s industry-leading fantasy football packages are loaded with stats and user-friendly DFS tools. NFL DFS Picks Week 4: Quarterback values

QB Andy Dalton, Bengals @ Falcons,  DK: $5,400, FD: $7,400

The Bengals are in an excellent spot this week as they head down to Atlanta to take on a Falcons defense that has been decimated by injuries. QB Andy Dalton has quietly been excellent since the team implemented Bill Lazor as offensive coordinator mid-way through last season, and is by far the top value option at quarterback this week, especially for $5,400 on DraftKings. Dalton has exceeded his salary expectations in all three games this season, posting a plus/minus of plus-six. We can also project that he will see plenty of volume in the passing game with starting RB Joe Mixon potentially still out with a knee injury, as the Bengals have attempted an amazing 88 passes in the two games that Mixon has missed/been banged up in this season.

Other QB Values: Russell Wilson, Andrew Luck

Daily Fantasy Football Week 4 Advice: Running back values

RB Giovani Bernard, Bengals @ Falcons, DK: $6,300, FD: $6,400

Bernard was a popular value play last week and is yet again the top value at the running back position, as he remains too cheap across the industry given his role in the Bengals offense. Bernard is an excellent pass catcher out of the backfield and will feast on a Falcons defense that has given up an incredibly bad 29 receptions to running backs over the last two weeks, and is now down it’s second starting safety after losing Ricardo Allen for the season. Bernard remains an excellent value across the industry and should have no trouble meeting his salary expectation with the receiving floor that he has. Expect Bernard to be the chalk option of the week, but the combination of price and matchup undoubtedly make him good chalk.

RB Kerryon Johnson, Lions @ Cowboys, DK: $4,400, FD: $5,700

This week is shaping up to be a week where you’re going to want to jam in three running backs into your cash game lineup, and the best cheap option at the position is emerging Lions rookie RB Kerryon Johnson, who finally broke the Lions streak of not having a running back run for 100 yards in a game last week. Johnson is excellent between the tackles and is a competent pass catcher out of the backfield, so he has a clear leg up over fellow Lions running backs LeGarrette Blount and Theo Riddick in terms of being game-script proof. The matchup with the Cowboys also got a huge boost with Cowboys star LB Sean Lee ruled out for the game with a hamstring injury. Dallas ranked in the bottom five in league against the run last season in the five games that Lee missed in 2017.

Other RB Values: Sony Michel, Matt Breida, Chris Carson, Isaiah Crowell

Week 4 Daily Fantasy Football Picks, Values: Wide receiver

WR Sterling Shepard, Giants vs. Saints, DK: $4,900, FD: $6,200

The wide receiver position has plenty of viable options in the sub-$5,000 range on DraftKings and while I really wanted to put Tyler Boyd in this spot (he is still an excellent option), I’m going to go with Giants slot-man Sterling Shepard. This is an excellent spot for Shepard, who should see an increase in targets with starting TE Evan Engram likely out with a knee injury. Beyond the bump in targets, Shepard has a fantastic matchup against the Saints who ranked dead last in DvP in the league against opposing wide receivers and will now be without starting slot corner Patrick Robinson for the remainder of the season. The RotoQL models currently project Shepard to see the second-most targets among wide receivers priced under $5,000 on DK.

WR Antonio Callaway, Browns @ Raiders, DK: $4,300, FD: $4,500

Despite plenty of viable mid-range options at WR, the punt options at the position get dicey in a hurry. However, on FanDuel it’s hard to beat Browns rookie WR Antonio Callaway for only $4,500. Callaway is by far the team’s best deep threat option and will be one of the biggest beneficiaries from new starting QB Baker Mayfield, who throws a much better deep ball than Tyrod Taylor. The matchup this week is excellent against the Raiders, who have one of the worst cornerback groups in the league and have been burned deep numerous times already this season. Callaway is more of a tournament option on DraftKings at his $4,300 price point, but he is in the cash game mix on FanDuel as he will help you afford multiple high-priced running backs in your lineup.

Other WR Values: Allen Robinson, Tyler Boyd, Mike Williams

Week 4 NFL DFS Picks: Tight end values

TE O.J. Howard, Buccaneers @ Bears, DK: $3,500, FD: $5,600

Bucs tight end O.J. Howard showed flashes of his immense talent last season, and has continued to build off of that with three solid performances thus far this year. Howard has established himself as the Bucs top pass catching tight end over Cameron Brate and has seen his target share double each week with Ryan Fitzpatrick at quarterback. The chalk tight end of the week will likely be Colts TE Eric Ebron, who is fine in cash games, but Howard makes for an excellent value GPP pivot in a matchup with the Bears who rank 17th in the league against tight ends

Other Tight End Values: Eric Ebron, Austin Hooper
