Week 3 Fantasy PPR Rankings: Tight end

Week 3 Fantasy PPR Rankings: Tight end image

Through two Sundays worth of action, the top fantasy tight end is Mark Andrews. He's followed by Travis Kelce and Evan Engram. The rest of the top 10 includes mostly familiar names (save for Will Dissly). So, business as usual, right? Well, not quite, The "one-good-game, one-bad-game" phenomenon has struck the likes of T.J. Hockenson and Greg Olsen, while players such George Kittle and Darren Waller have been remarkably consistent, though unspectacular, through two weeks. Which do you prefer? Our Week 3 fantasy TE PPR rankings tries to balance the two and project ahead based on matchups, which are still tough to evaluate.

Given how poorly the Cardinals have played against TEs both weeks, we feel fairly confident that a well-rested Greg Olsen can have a good day against them, and based on what we saw last Thursday, that should mean steady targets. The Dolphins have been nearly as bad, but Jason Witten might need a TD to really pay off. Fortunately, he has five red-zone targets (tied for second most among TEs), so he's still in a good spot. His seven catches on eight overall targets this year are decent enough, too.

WEEK 3 NON-PPR RANKINGS:
Quarterback | Running back | Wide receiver | Tight end | D/ST | Kicker

San Francisco was saved by penalities nullifying two Cameron Brate TDs in Week 1, but Tyler Eiftert got into the end zone fair and square against the Niners in Week 2. After scoring twice on passes from Mason Rudolph last week, we think Vance McDonald could be a popular target again in his return to San Francisco, but we're still moving him down slightly compared to our standard rankings because of uncertainty. Tampa also had two TE touchdowns wiped out by penalties in Week 1 and got torched for over 100 yards by Olsen last Thursday, so Engram could easily finish as the top TE this week.

WEEK 3 PPR RANKINGS: Running back | Wide receiver

There aren't many big sleepers who stand out based on targets or matchups. Mike Gesicki (@ Cowboys) and Geoff Swaim/James O'Shaughnessy (vs. Titans) both face teams that have statistically struggled against TEs this year, but Dallas's numbers are inflated by Engram's big Week 1 and Tennessee has allowed just two short TDs in both games, so we're not all that worried about the Titans either. If you really want to take a chance, one of the Rams might be your best bet since Cleveland has struggled against TEs for the better part of two years. Tyler Higbee has two more catches and targets than Gerald Everett, so consider him the deep sleeper to own.
