Our Week 14 fantasy PPR rankings feature a surprise at the top -- no Michael Thomas. Thomas has 24 more receptions than any other wide receiver, so perhaps he should get the No. 1 spot by default every week, but a matchup against the 49ers, who are tied for the second-fewest receptions allowed to WRs, has us worried enough to bump him all the way to No. 3 (and that might wind up being No. 2 if Julio Jones sits again). So, you know, not that big of a drop.
But that really doesn't matter -- Thomas is a sure starter no matter the matchup. The real intrigue comes a little further down, where John Brown and Cole Beasley (vs. Ravens) get bumps up despite what looks to be a tough matchup. In reality, though, the Ravens are allowing the fifth-most WR receptions, and both Brown and Beasley have been high-floor players all season, especially in PPR formats. The Panthers (second-most WR receptions allowed) and Rams (tied for seventh) are two more teams that haven't allowed a ton of WR touchdowns (or yards, in the Rams case), but they funnel receptions to wideouts. Jones, Calvin Ridley, and Russell Gage will get to take advantage of that against Carolina this week, while Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf will face the Rams, who acquired Jalen Ramsey several weeks to help shore up their pass defense.
WEEK 14 NON-PPR RANKINGS:
Quarterback | Running back | Wide receiver | Tight end | D/ST | Kicker
Overall, there aren't too many other surprises that cause our PPR rankings to differ greatly from our standard rankings. We've mentioned before how Marvin Jones is catching more passes than you might think this year (18th among WRs), and he gets a good matchup against the Vikings, albeit with a shakier QB. We're also sticking with Jamison Crowder (vs. Dolphins) relatively high in our rankings despite two straight down games. While the production has been miniscule, it was nice to see him at least get nine targets last week. The catches will come in bunches again soon.
WEEK 14 PPR RANKINGS: Running back | Tight end
Two of the biggest sleepers this week are Tennessee's A.J. Brown and Corey Davis (@ Raiders). Neither has caught more than six passes in a game this year. In fact, they rarely go over three. That said, this matchup is too good for both to flop, so you're really playing a guessing game as to which one will have the yards and TD(s). For what it's worth, both of Davis's good games this year have come in tough matchups (Bills, Chargers), while Brown has been the one to exploit mediocre pass defenses (Browns, Falcons, Bucs, Jags).
WEEK 14 DFS LINEUPS:
DK Cash | DK GPP | FD Cash | FD GPP | Y! Cash | Y! GPP
The Giants (@ Eagles) feature some interesting options depending on the health of Golden Tate (concussion). Even if he plays, either Sterling Shepard or Darius Slayton (or both) could rack up receptions. The same is true on the other side of that game with Nelson Agholor. Anthony Miller (vs. Cowboys) has a tough matchup but has seen a lot of targets lately, and Zach Pascal's up-and-down season is on the upswing ahead of a highly favorable matchup against the Bucs. All make for solid sleepers in PPR formats.
