NFL Week 8 Weather Updates: Heavy rain, wind for Eagles-Bills, Browns-Patriots could impact fantasy start 'em, sit 'em calls image

It’s definitely a week to take weather forecasts into account when making your NFL DFS and season-long fantasy football start 'em, sit 'em decisions. There’s potentially disruptive rain and wind in three games in Week 8, including Browns-Patriots.

Before we break down the Week 8 forecast, here's a reminder that if you have any questions about sports weather or how weather could impact play (and, potentially, your fantasy, DFS, and gambling decisions), don't hesitate to reach out on Twitter @KevinRothWx or check our hourly NFL weather forecasts on RotoGrinders. NFL Week 8 weather updates

Eagles @ Bills. This game features a bit of a double-whammy, as there's a decent chance of seeing rain and high winds. The rain will be hit or miss, I’d be sure to check my Twitter (@KevinRothWx) before kickoff on the latest with that, but the winds will be reliably disruptive. Sustained winds should be coming in around 20 mph during the game with gusts around 30 mph. In 60-plus NFL games since 2000 with similar weather, passing yards and scoring have both decreased by 10 percent. That doesn’t mean you can’t start guys in this game, but I’d expect them to be at 90 percent of their usual output (stats courtesy of RotoGrinders' exclusive WeatherEdge tool). (UPDATE: Winds to gust up to 40 mph, making this an even tougher game for passing/kicking.)

Panthers @ 49ers. This is likely our windiest game of the week, though there’s no rain to further complicate matters. Sustained winds will be between 20-25 mph, so deep passes and kicks will be impacted.

Browns @ Patriots. This game has the best chance of seeing heavy rain. We saw last week in DC how a true downpour can really halt offenses, and this game has potential to be just as soaked. Anytime we have heavy rain potential, I like defenses and running backs in a slow, grind-it-out style game.
