NFL Hall of Fame Game DFS Picks 8/3: Best SuperDraft lineup advice for Thursday night's Jets-Browns preseason contest image

NFL DFS is officially back with the Jets and Browns kicking off the 2023 preseason slate in the annual Hall of Fame Game on Thursday night (8:00 p.m. ET, NBC). For SuperDraft players searching for daily fantasy football lineup advice, we think our Hall of Fame Game lineup picks are strong enough to help pad your DFS bankroll when it's all said and done.

We're rolling with a backup QB who should see plenty of run in the second half as our Champion pick. We've also selected one special-teamer alongside three underrated sleepers that give us a chance to end the night in the money.

SuperDraft offers salary cap DFS contests, but the majority of its tournaments feature no restrictions like caps or tiers. The strategy involves points multipliers — the higher a player's average fantasy score, the lower their multiplier. The lower their average fantasy output, the higher their multiplier. A winning lineup will feature a good mix of stud fantasy contributors with 1x-1.6x boosts, as well as matchup-based sleepers with larger multipliers.

NFL Hall of Fame Game DFS Picks: Jets vs. Browns SuperDraft lineup

Lineup consists of a Champion player scoring an additional 50% of its multiplier and four superflex players. Lineup must include a player from both teams. Draft all of your favorite players based on their multiplier value with no restrictions.

Champion (50% more points): QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson, Browns (Multiplier: 1.95x)

With the Browns playing two QBs tonight after ruling out Deshaun Watson and Josh Dobbs, we'll gladly roster Cleveland's QB2, who sees a 1.95 multiplier plus an extra 50-percent points boost next to his name. Thompson-Robinson is battling with fellow QB Kellen Mond as the team's third QB behind Watson and Dobbs, and while Mond has two years of NFL experience under his belt, we think Thompson-Robinson has a shot to ultimately win the QB3 job, starting with a strong showing in the HOF game.

DTR's likely to play most of the second half, and although he isn't starting, his rushing abilities likely result in a superior fantasy point showing relative to Mond. Thompson-Robinson rushed for 600-plus yards on 100-plus attempts in each of his final two seasons at UCLA, and while it's unlikely Cleveland calls QB-designed runs, he's capable of picking up chunk yards on the ground if his initial reads aren't open.

If you read our betting prediction piece, we did side with the Jets ultimately emerging victorious, but from a DFS standpoint, it makes more sense to roster a Browns QB in the Champion spot. The Browns are playing just two QBs to the Jets' three, so there's less uncertainty regarding the exact playing time of Cleveland's QBs.

MORE JETS-BROWNS HOF GAME: Betting picks

SFLX: QB Chris Streveler, Jets (Multiplier: 1.6x)

While Streveler is pegged as the team's No. 3 QB tonight behind Zach Wilson and Tim Boyle, like Thompson-Robinson, Streveler's rushing upside makes him an intriguing DFS play. In his lone regular season action filling in for an ineffective Zach Wilson last year, Streveler injected some life into the Jets' offense in the latter part of their Week 16 TNF home tilt against the Jaguars.

In that game, Streveler completed 10-of-15 passes for 90 yards while rushing for 54 yards on nine carries. A similar output tonight that includes a TD would boost our chances of climbing the leaderboards.

SFLX: K Greg Zuerlein, Jets (Multiplier: 1.65x)

Zuerlein certainly isn't the flashiest DFS play by any means, but in a projected low-scoring contest, rostering either team's kicker gives your roster some stability. Since we think the Jets ultimately pull out the "W," we'll go with Zuerlein, hoping he connects on a couple of field goals and extra points. Rostering Browns' kicker Cade York isn't a bad move, especially if you think the Browns will pull out the win tonight.

Last season, Zuerlein averaged 12.3 fantasy points when factoring in his 1.65x multiplier. However, given tonight's contest is rather low-scoring (over/under 33.5 points), look for Zuerlein's fantasy point output to be closer to 10.

SFLX: RB Israel Abanikanda, Jets (Multiplier: 1.65x)

Abanikanda, the Jets' fifth-round draft pick out of Pittsburgh, likely sees a high snap share tonight, making him a worthwhile addition to DFS lineups. The bruising ball carrier is rather far back on the team's RB depth chart, penciled in as the team's RB4 behind Breece Hall, Michael Carter, and Zonovan Knight.

While Hall won't be logging any snaps tonight, it's unlikely Carter and Knight will play much at all, leading to a high-volume night from Abanikanda. We'd love to see Abanikanda reach paydirt with a goal-line carry in the first half, resulting in a double-digit fantasy night from the fifth-round rookie.

SFLX: WR Cedric Tillman, Browns (Multiplier: 1.55x)

We'll round our SuperDraft lineup with Tillman, a third-round rookie who averaged 16.3 yards per reception in his junior season in 2021 (played in just six games in '22 dealing with an ankle injury). Tillman's impressed so far in Browns' training camp, as the 6-3 wideout looks to translate those practice reps into preseason production.

While Tillman has a shot at playing primarily in the first half, negating a stack with our Champion pick, we're enticed by his field-stretching abilities, potentially resulting in a chunk play or two.
