Is Jayden Reed playing Sunday night? Fantasy injury update for Chiefs-Packers Week 13 SNF image

Jordan Love has the Packers in the midst of their best stretch of the 2023 season, starting to peak at the right time. Winners of four straight, Green Bay is right back in the playoff race. In a classic measuring stick game, now the Cheeseheads will see how they stack up against one of the league's best, the Kansas City Chiefs. We already know they'll be without RB Aaron Jones (knee), but will they have emerging rookie receiver Jayden Reed? After announcing his arrival to the league in front of a national audience on Thanksgiving, Reed will be hoping for an encore performance as long as his chest injury doesn't keep him out.

We'll continue to update this article with news on Reed until the official active/inactive report comes out on Sunday around 6:50 p.m. ET, so check back for the latest.

Is Jayden Reed playing Sunday night Week 13?

UPDATE: Bleacher Report's Jordan Schultz reported Sunday morning that Reed is "trending toward playing," but a final determination on his status won't be made until after pregame warmups.

UPDATE 2: Reed is officially ACTIVE.

Reed (chest) is officially listed as "questionable" heading into Sunday night's game against the Chiefs. He turned in a DNP on Wednesday and Thursday before getting in a limited session on Friday. Reed has quickly emerged as a reliable fantasy option in what is an incredibly young Packers' WR room.

He played through a chest injury on Thanksgiving, which didn't seem to bother him too much. The rookie turned in a solid performance against the Lions in Detroit, collecting four-of-eight targets for 34 yards and a touchdown. Reed has seen consistent targets recently, logging 19 in the past three games, and he added five carries for 62 yards and a TD on the ground in that span. It's part of a growing trust between Reed and QB Jordan Love, who has been finding a rhythm recently. With three straight double-digit fantasy points performances, the rookie is worth a look as a WR3/flex if active.

Without Reed, however, that would signal a boost to Christian Watson, who finally had his best game of the season last week after suffering through the classic sophomore slump. Romeo Doubs would also be in play as a flex, and deep-leaguers could even consider Dontayvion Wicks. Regardless, this is going to be a tough matchup for the Packers against a solid Chiefs defense.

This raises the question -- is Reed worth waiting around for? Depending on your available options, we'd lean toward "no" because of the floor, but he's the perfect boom-or-bust type of receiver who can swing a week one way or another. Ultimately, Reed's inclusion in your lineup comes down to your willingness to take on some risk. If you want to wait for Reed, make sure you have one of the aforementioned Packers' secondary receivers or someone like Zay Jones, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, or Tanner Hudson waiting in the wings to take your flex spot.
