Fantasy Injury Updates: Is Greg Olsen playing Thursday night? (UPDATED) image

Greg Olsen is becoming the ultimate start 'em, sit 'm headache for fantasy football owners. At his age, skipping practices isn't uncommon, and after getting a "DNP" both Monday and Tuesday because of a back injury, he's been listed as "questionable" for Thursday night's game Buccaneers-Panthers game. An inactive Olsen could elevate Ian Thomas to legit Week 2 sleeper status, while an active Olsen would complicate matters for all parties, as he still might be the best TE option you can find.

Throughout the day Thursday, we'll provide you with the latest news on Olsen's status. Check back in the lead-up to kickoff to get an official answer, and for more updates and the latest fantasy news, follow us on Twitter @SN_Fantasy

Is Greg Olsen playing Thursday night?

UPDATE 2: Olsen is officially ACTIVE.

UPDATE 1: ESPN reported Thursday morning that Olsen is "expected to play tonight."

Olsen (back) told reporters Tuesday that he "plans" to play on Thursday night against the Buccaneers. That word obviously leaves some room for doubt. Olsen practiced in full on Wednesday, though, before being listed as "questionable" on the Panthers' final pregame injury report.

Week 2 DFS: FD Cash | FD GPP | DK Cash | DK GPPY! Cash | Y! GPP

If Olsen sits, Ian Thomas becomes the starting TE. In Olsen's absence down the stretch in 2018, Thomas averaged five catches for nearly 50 yards a game. He'd be an acceptable, easy swap-in for any Olsen owners.

Other tight ends owned in fewer than 10 percent of Yahoo fantasy football leagues that would work as fill-ins for Olsen include Vernon Davis (vs. DAL), Ryan Griffin (vs. CLE), Mike Gesicki (vs. NE), and C.J. Uzomah (vs. SEA).
