Fantasy Injury Updates: Is Adrian Peterson playing Thursday night? image

Adrian Peterson is one of a number of "revenge games" on Thursday Night Football between the Vikings and Redskins. He's questionable to matchup with his former Minnesota team. Case Keenum will quarterback against his former team, as will Kirk Cousins on the other side. AP has been dealing with some ankle issues, but all signs point up for his availability. Whether he's worth starting in fantasy is a different question.

The active/inactive report comes about about 6:50 p.m. ET time. For any more updates or questions you need throughout the day, be sure to go to @SN_Fantasy on Twitter.

Is Adrian Peterson playing Thursday night?

UPDATE: Peterson is officially ACTIVE for the game.

Peterson has reportedly been dealing with multiple high ankle sprains. Both NFL Network and ESPN have reported Thursday morning that Peterson plans on playing.

The Redskins sort of need the future Hall-of-Famer to play because otherwise their backfield falls to Wendell Smallwood (Chris Thompson has been already ruled out). Smallwood would be a speculative DraftKings Showdown play, but you can't possibly rely on him in season-long leagues. For that matter, Peterson is tough to play as anything more than a desperation FLEX on Thursday night.

Peterson might have extra juice to play in this "revenge game" against his former Vikings team. He has rushed 43 times for 199 yards across the past two weeks, but Minnesota has allowed the eighth-fewest fantasy points to running backs in 2019. With gameflow expected to lead to a lot of Washington passing, Peterson's workload could be lower against a tough defense.

Adam Thielen injury update

If you weren't already aware, Thielen has been ruled out for Thursday Night Football with a hamstring injury he sustained on a touchdown catch in Week 7. Both he and Vikings coach Mike Zimmer had shown optimism for Thielen playing Thursday before he was ruled out. That suggests that the 10 days off before Minnesota plays again will be enough for Thielen to get back on the field.
