Fantasy TE PPR Rankings Week 2: Who to start, sit at tight end in fantasy football image

What a total shocker -- most of the top-tier TEs had nice outings while several random tight ends emerged to become fantasy relevant in the season's opening week. As always, tight ends can be tricky to rank, and a mere red-zone target or two could be the difference between a TE1 and a TE2. That flukiness is evened out a bit in PPR leagues, where targets in general matter quite a bit, but touchdowns still go a long, long way at this position. Our Week 2 fantasy TE PPR rankings try to balance it all without reacting too strongly to last week's results.

What did we learn from T.J. Hockenson's 9-97-TD performance? It was only Week 1, but perhaps the 49ers will be a defense that gives you the green light to play tight ends against them. Jury's still out on the Niners, but obviously Hockenson (@ Packers) is a must-start this week. Dallas Goedert (vs. 49ers) does look a little better, though, especially after a nice Week 1 outing. Noah Fant (@ Jaguars) looked like an early favorite target of Teddy Bridgewater, though Albert Okwuegbunam played a little too much in the red zone for our tastes. Fant is a must-start next week, but Albert O might also be in play against a porous Jags defense.

WEEK 2 STANDARD RANKINGS:
Quarterback | Running Back | Wide Receiver | Tight End | D/ST | Kicker

The Titans' passing defense looks to be one of the worst in the NFL again, so Gerald Everett (vs. Titans) is probably a reasonable streaming bet this week. Everett only grabbed two receptions for 20 yards in Week 1, but he did score a touchdown in the red zone. He did this against a stout LB corps headlined by Darius Leonard, so his outing was still impressive.

WEEK 2 PPR RANKINGS:
Quarterback | Running Back | Wide Receiver | D/ST | Kicker

Kyle Pitts (@ Buccaneers) was pretty underwhelming given his expectations against the Eagles, and this isn't a matchup you'll love to play him in. Still, Tampa gave up six catches to Dalton Schultz in Week 1, so Pitts should still be in lineups. Schultz (@ Chargers) is also in play in PPR leagues against an L.A. defense that allowed a TE touchdown in Week 1 to Logan Thomas.

WEEK 2 FANTASY: Sleepers | Busts | Start 'em, sit 'em

Some streaming options include Juwan Johnson (@ Panthers), Tyler Conklin(@ Cardinals), Pharaoh Brown (@ Browns), and Jared Cook (vs. Cowboys). Matchups are everything as we arrive to this point in the rankings, so these guys have every chance to outperform their preseason places on our list. Johnson is riskier in PPR, though, so make sure to consider all options. The same goes for Robert Tonyan (vs. Lions), who has a great matchup but could easily catch just a handful of passes.
