Fantasy Injury Updates: Latest news on Saquon Barkley, Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Damien Harris affecting Week 6 waiver pickups image

Saquon Barkley, Clyde Edwards-Helaire, and Damien Harris all exited last week's games early, springing their respective handcuff RBs into action (Devontae Booker, Darrel Williams, Rhamondre Stevenson). As RB depth charts around the league are affected by injury, so are Week 6 RB rankings. Get the latest injury updates on these players ahead of your waiver wire pickups.

Saquon Barkley injury update

UPDATE: As expected, Barkley avoided serious injury, but he is likely to miss Week 6 against the Rams.

Bad luck struck again for Barkley, and he injured his ankle after getting in tangle up with a Cowboys' defender. Luckily, Barkley avoided serious injury as his x-rays came back negative, but he is expected to miss a few weeks of games.

In his absence, Devontae Booker is slated to be the primary back in New York. He isn't the all-world athlete Saquon is, but he's proven to be a serviceable replacement during his career. In a matchup against the Rams in Week 6, we rank him as our RB19 in PPR leagues and in standard. The Giants' offensive line is still weak, but Booker should be in line for a bell-cow workload against a Rams' team who has been relatively weak against the run this season.

WEEK 6 PPR RANKINGS:
Quarterback | Running back | Wide receiver | Tight end | D/ST | Kicker

Clyde Edwards-Helaire injury update

UPDATE: Edwards-Helaire reportedly suffered an MCL sprain, meaning he will miss a few weeks, but luckily avoided a season-ending injury. It's still worth grabbing Darrel Williams for the time being as CEH always carries injury risk.

Edwards-Helaire suffered a knee injury against Buffalo, but we're unsure of the severity at this point. However, it obviously didn't look good, and CEH was visibly upset right after the play happened. That said, we assume he'll at least be out for some stretch of games, making Darrel Williams a top priority waiver add.

For Week 6, we rank Williams as our RB24 in standard leagues and RB25 in PPR. On such an explosive offense, he has the potential to exceed expectations, but we've seen the RB position neglected enough in KC to know he'll have a low floor. Additionally, he might often share the backfield with Jerick McKinnon. The Chiefs do a play struggling defense in Washington in Week 6, but their passing defense is their main weakness.

Damien Harris injury update

UPDATE: Harris has been ruled "day-to-day" and his injury is not serious. At worst, he'd miss Week 6 against Dallas, but that may not even be the case.

Harris exited his Week 6 game in Houston with a rib injury. He's another guy we'll have to wait and see on, but his injury doesn't seem as severe as Barkley's or CEH's. That said, keep monitoring his situation, and if he does miss time, Rhamondre Stevenson should be in line to take the bulk of the carries in the offense. Stevenson was a capable pass-catcher in college, but that role seems to be hogged by Brandon Bolden. So, like Harris, Stevenson would be more of a standard league play. Even if Harris is healthy, he lost another key goal-line fumble last week, so that could hurt his playing time, too.

Since we're not expecting Harris to miss time, we rank him as our RB26 in standard and RB29 in PPR. Frankly, he might need a touchdown to produce a solid fantasy day, but has a chance to do so against Cowboys' defense that has been better than expected but is still not great.
