Fantasy Injury Updates: Is Keke Coutee playing Monday night? (Updated) image

Keke Coutee might not be the most exciting fantasy football option, but you might've looked at the Texans' matchup with the Saints and bet on a shootout. Coutee's preseason ankle injury hasn't quite gone away yet, though, and he's questionable for Monday Night Football. If you're in a tough spot with Coutee in your season-long or DFS lineup, you'll likely be waiting eagerly for the official active/inactive report.

Throughout the day, we'll provide you with the latest news on Coutee's status and whether he will play. Check back in the lead-up to kickoff to get an official answer, and for more updates and the latest fantasy news, follow us on Twitter @SN_Fantasy

Is Keke Coutee playing Monday night?

UPDATE: Coutee is officially INACTIVE.

Houston has been noncommittal in answers about Coutee heading into Week 1, though he likely won't play a full complement of snaps even if he's active. If he plays, he'll be the Texans' No. 3 WR, usually occupying the slot with DeAndre Hopkins and Will Fuller V playing outside. That means he'd see lots of New Orleans' slot corner Patrick Robinson on Monday night, with both Hopkins and Fuller expected to be shadowed by Marshon Lattimore and Eli Apple.

Coutee proved at times last year that he can produce even when all three wideouts are healthy in Houston, so you shouldn't be too concerned about being "stuck" with him in your lineup if he's active. If he's inactive, though, your options will be limited since almost all teams have played in Week 1.

Assuming your league would still allow you to drop Coutee for other players still to play, you could target Houston's Kenny Stills, New Orleans' Tre'Quan Smith, Denver's DaeSean Hamilton or Oakland's J.J. Nelson (assuming Tyrell Williams is owned -- he'd be the first choice if unowned). If Coutee was in your FLEX spot, Oakland RB Jalen Richard could be a possibly available PPR option, while Denver TE Noah Fant could be a pivot in standard leagues.
