Fantasy Injury Updates: Alvin Kamara, Todd Gurley, Adrian Peterson affect Week 7 RB rankings image

It's always tough for fantasy owners to know what's happening when a player's injury, like Alvin Kamara's ankle, can't be traced to one play in a game. Once there are mixed signals being sent by the team, the RB rankings get thrown out of whack. If Kamara was out, it would make Latavius Murray a huge fantasy sleeper and instant waiver pickup. Start 'em, sit 'em decisions are further thrown off by injuries to Todd Gurley, Malcolm Brown, Adrian Peterson and Chris Thompson heading into Week 7.

Will Alvin Kamara play in Week 7?

It'd be tough sledding enough if Kamara was just playing the Bears in Week 7. He's also dealing with a "high ankle-type issue" along with a knee injury that might keep him out of practice all week. Despite that, Kamara says he still has "a shot to play" Sunday. The Saints signed Zach Zenner, which doesn't bode well for their Kamara optimism.

(Update: Kamara has been ruled out for Week 7.)

If Kamara misses out, Latavius Murray, who's owned in about half of Yahoo leagues, becomes a must-start. The Bears are without stud defensive run stuffer Akiem Hicks, who was placed on IR, so Murray should see high volume and have decent efficiency.

Todd Gurley, Malcolm Brown injury update

Gurley missed Week 6 due to a quad injury. After he was limited in practice Wednesday, Sean McVay said, "I think he’s on a good pace to hopefully be able to play on Sunday." Gurley's backup, Brown, missed practice Wednesday due to an ankle injury.

A matchup with the Falcons should lead to plenty of Rams' points in Week 7. Whichever RB starts, be it Gurley, Brown or Darrell Henderson, should be a fantasy starter. Whoever the backup is could warrant deep-league FLEX consideration, too.

Adrian Peterson, Chris Thompson injury news

Peterson and Thompson both missed Wednesday's Redskins' practice. The Redskins' other running backs are Wendell Smallwood and Josh Ferguson.

(Update: Peterson returned to full practice and Thompson missed practice on Thursday.)

It's gonna be a tough go of it Sunday for Washington against a strong 49ers' defense, and we wouldn't want to play any of these guys. We'll have to keep an eye on this as the week goes on. If Smallwood started for some reason, he'd be looking at a heavy workload, albeit probably an inefficient one.
