Fantasy Injury Updates: Adam Thielen, DeSean Jackson impact Week 10 waiver wire pickups image

Two nagging WR injuries cropped up early in Sunday's action, forcing Adam Thielen (hamstring) and DeSean Jackson (abdomen) out of their respective ballgames in the first quarter of each. Both had missed time due to those same injuries, and now fantasy owners are extra concerned heading into Week 10 and beyond with two top receivers battling injuries apparently worse than they thought. Neither has an obvious waiver-wire replacement, but if you're dealing with these two, there are a lot of WRs in general available to pick up this week.

Adam Thielen injury update

UPDATE: Thielen is expected to miss Week 10, per NFL Network.

Thielen was active Sunday after missing Week 8 with a hamstring injury, but the Vikings' star wideout left the game after his lone target and didn't return. He apparently aggravated the same hamstring injury. In Thielen's absence, Laquon Treadwell caught three-of-five targets for 45 yards, Olabisi Johnson caught a touchdown, and tight ends Irv Smith Jr. and Kyle Rudolph both saw increased usage.

From Thielen's earlier absence, we've seen that it's Smith and Rudolph who get the biggest fantasy boost when Thielen is out. The Cowboys are below average matchup for tight ends in Week 10, making Smith and Rudolph both usable if Thielen is out. Despite Thielen's absence, Stefon Diggs caught just one-of-four targets for four yards. Apparently, it's not automatic that he has good games without Thielen.

DeSean Jackson injury news

UPDATE 2: The Eagles placed DeSean Jackson on Injured Reserve, ending his regular season.

UPDATE: NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Jackson is expected to miss the next four-to-six weeks.

Jackson had a first-drive catch for the Eagles on Sunday before exiting the game after that drive. He was sidelined with the same abdominal injury that had kept him out since the beginning of Week 2.

We've never really gotten more clarity on Jackson's injury, and it apparently isn't that simple. The Eagles offense definitely operates better with Jackson playing, but it seems we can't really count on that going forward. Philadelphia is on a Week 10 bye, so maybe he'll have time to recover.
