Fantasy Football Week 9 Rankings: Quarterback image

Excluding the high-flying, aerial attacks in the Texans vs. Seahawks game, not a single QB on Sunday recorded 20 points in ESPN leagues four-point passing TDs, and only four QBs squeaked by in Yahoo six-point touchdown leagues (Andy Dalton, Josh McCown, Case Keenum Carson Wentz, in that order). Since Halloween was approaching, we'll give credit to the scary defenses, but we foresee in our crystal ball that a lot more QBs will reach over 20 points in our Week 9 fantasy QB rankings.

Tom Brady is the most notable QB missing out of the six idle teams, followed by Philip Rivers and Ben Roethlisberger. Further down the line are Keenum and rookie QBs DeShone Kizer and Mitchell Trubisky. There's a legitimate argument that the byes make decisions easier for fantasy owners looking for streaming options. The notable ones include Jared Goff (@ Giants) and Tyrod Taylor (@ Jets), and if you're really pushing buttons, Jacoby Brissett (vs. Texans) and Josh McCown (vs. Bills) aren't too bad of a bet.

As of now, there are only two QB injuries we're keeping an eye on with Jay Cutler and Joe Flacco. It's expected that Cutler will suit up against the Raiders on Sunday night, but Flacco could be a game-time call.

Week 9 Fantasy Football Rankings: QBs

These rankings are for standard leagues with 6-point passing TDs.

Drew Brees, Saints vs. Bucs.  He didn't throw a touchdown against the Bears, which means he's bound to throw multiple ones this game to make up for that. And the Bucs average the third-most points to QBs per game, so that's a plus.
2 Dak Prescott, Cowboys vs. Chiefs.
Russell Wilson, Seahawks vs. Redskins. Wilson has been red hot as of late, producing two 40-plus and two 30-plus fantasy outings in the past five weeks. The Redskins are a tough matchup, but Wentz put up a 30-plus-point performance two weeks ago.  Expect Wilson to continue his hot streak.
Carson Wentz, Eagles vs. Broncos. The Broncos defense still carries weight, but they're middle of the pack at stopping QBs in fantasy. Wentz, currently the No. 2 QB in fantasy this year so far, won't be fazed.  The Broncos' specialty is stopping the run, and the Eagles have no running game, turning the Eagles offense into a pass-heavy attack this week.
Alex Smith, Chiefs @ Cowboys.
6 Cam Newton, Panthers vs. Falcons. In the past three games, the Falcons defense have allowed Jay Culter, Tom Brady and Josh McCown to throw two TD passes.  Newton should be able to pick apart the Falcons defense for a couple scores, whether it's on the ground or in the air.
Jared Goff, Rams @ Giants. Both teams are coming off a bye, so that effectively cancels out that advantage. The Giants average the the seventh-most fantasy points per game (FPPG) to QBs and have given up at least one passing TD each week.  Goff is a solid streamer this week.
8 Derek Carr, Raiders @ Dolphins. It didn't look pretty, playing behind most of the game, but Carr pieced together 313 passing yards and reached a suitable 14.84 fantasy points. If it weren't for two interceptions that could be deemed without fault (one bounced off RB, one at end of the game in garbage time), he would've been a top-10 fantasy QB. The Dolphins looked pitiful last week, so look for Carr to continue his upward trend after his back injury.
9 Matthew Stafford, Lions @ Packers. Despite scoring a total of 15 points and not throwing a touchdown, Stafford put up 423 passing yards en route to 18 fantasy points, the second-highest total the Steelers have allowed all year. Stafford has another tough test at Lambeau this week, which the Lions haven't had success at all in recent years, but he should be able to put together another solid fantasy week.
10 Marcus Mariota, Titans vs. Ravens.  The Ravens have held the past four QBs to under 200 passing yards, but none of those QBs (EJ Manuel, Case Keenum, Mitchell Trubisky, Matt Moore) are on Mariota's level.  Off a bye, Mariota should be able to use his arm and legs for a solid fantasy outing.
11  Jameis Winston, Bucs @ Saints. Winston might as well have laid a goose egg last week (3.4 pts), and he faces another tough test against the Saints, who have nine interceptions in the past four games.  Winston has had problems with turnovers, turning it over four times in the past two games.  While he should fare better this week than last week, he'll have to temper the turnovers to produce a good game.
12 Tyrod Taylor, Bills @ Jets. It's a road start for Taylor, and he's scored 10, 14, and 10 points, respectively, in three starts away from Buffalo this year.  The Jets have allowed two passing touchdowns to five QBs in the past four games (yes, you read that correctly -- Matt Moore and Jay Cutler in Week 7). If Taylor can piece together a couple touchdowns in conjunction with the extra points he creates on the ground, he'll reach his streamer value.
13 Matt Ryan, Falcons @ Panthers. Ryan has posted back-to-back solid weeks with 19 points against favorable matchups, but now he's facing a Panthers team that has held the past four QBs to an average of 11 FPPG.
14 Kirk Cousins, Redskins @ Seahawks.  Rookie Deshaun Watson made it rain in Seattle, but he has DeAndre Hopkins and Will Fuller. Cousins, with a banged-up OL, has Jamison Crowder, Josh Doctson and a partially benched Terrelle Pryor. Cousins won't put up big numbers like Watson did, but he can still have value.
15 Jacoby Brissett, Colts @ Texans.
16 Josh McCown, Jets vs. Bills.
17 Jay Cutler, Dolphins vs. Raiders
18 Eli Manning, Giants vs. Rams
19 Brett Hundley, Packers vs. Lions
20 Tom Savage, Texans vs. Colts
21 C.J. Beathard, 49ers vs. Cardinals
22 Joe Flacco, Ravens @ Titans
23  Blake Bortles, Jaguars vs. Bengals
24 Andy Dalton, Bengals @ Jaguars
25 Drew Stanton, Cardinals @ 49ers
26 Brock Osweiler, Broncos @ Eagles
