Fantasy Football Injury Updates: Evan Engram, Greg Olsen, Gerald Everett impact Week 16 TE rankings image

If you own Evan Engram and made it to your fantasy championship in spite of him, kudos to you. You can still cross your fingers he'll make it back from injury and be in the top 10 of our Week 16 TE rankings, but that seems unlikely at this point. Greg Olsen owners can breathe easier, since it looks like he's back. And the Rams' tight end situation might be one to avoid this week if Gerald Everett gets back to eat into Tyler Higbee's value against the 49ers. We have the latest updates below.

Is Evan Engram playing in Week 16?

UPDATE: Engram has been placed on Injured Reserve. His season is over.

Engram has missed the Giants' past five games due to a sprained foot. Rhett Ellison continues to be out with a concussion, as well, leaving Kaden Smith to handle starting tight end duties for New York. Engram spent time last week limited in practice before being ruled out.

Hopefully you're not still holding out too much hope in Engram -- he's just as likely to be shut down as he is to play against the Redskins in Week 16. But if he does play, he's a fantasy starter, so don't dismiss him until he's officially ruled out.

Greg Olsen injury update

Olsen has cleared the league's concussion protocol, which is what kept him out the past two weeks and allowed Ian Thomas to garner two starts. When Olsen was active earlier in the season, Thomas barely played, so unless we get a different indication for a rebuilding end to the season, expect Olsen to take back the playing time at TE in Carolina.

Since Carolina has reportedly made the move to Will Grier, maybe the Panthers will stick with Thomas, too. For now, we have to operate like Olsen is a back-end starting tight end for Week 16 against the Colts.

Gerald Everett injury news

Everett (knee) has missed the past three games as Tyler Higbee has taken over as starter in L.A. He'd been referred to as "day-to-day" last week before being ruled out by the end of the week. The Rams play Saturday night against the 49ers.

You can't really count on Everett at this point even if he plays - the bigger implications are for Higbee. But a matchup with the 49ers isn't a great one for him, either, and if Everett were to make it back, you'd want to avoid Higbee, too.
