FanDuel Week 2 Prices: Peyton Manning falling, but Adrian Peterson still top RB image

Daily fantasy football sites must process the small sample of NFL Week 1 results when setting prices for Week 2, just like fantasy football owners setting this week's DFS lineups.

FanDuel has generated interesting price changes at each position for Week 2, while some players didn't move much despite very surprising performances (good and bad) in Week 1. Below are some of the most noteworthy FanDuel prices for NFL Week 2.

Peyton Manning's fantasy value

Broncos QB Peyton Manning entered Week 1 behind only Aaron Rodgers and Andrew Luck in FanDuel cost at $9,100, before struggling against arguably a top-five Ravens defense. Manning's rough outings tend to be worse than others given how ugly his throws look even when they hit their target, and Demaryius Thomas, Emmanuel Sanders and C.J. Anderson rack up additional yards after the catch.

Each time it's been feared that Manning is done — save for injury — he has bounced back. Last time might have been the last time, but Kansas City did just give up 334 yards and two touchdowns to a combo of Brian Hoyer and Ryan Mallett. However, Thursday night fantasy trends and the fit for Manning in Gary Kubiak's scheme are valid reasons to stay away in daily fantasy football this week even at $8,200 on FanDuel (10th among QBs).

Adrian Peterson's fantasy outlook

Vikings RB Adrian Peterson was a hugely disappointing performer in Week 1 but managed to avoid major fluctuation on FanDuel. Remember fantasy drafts in 2012, as Adrian Peterson came off knee surgery and suddenly came on the relative cheap? That's the only time post-rookie year it appears anyone will get Peterson at a bargain.

Those hoping his daily fantasy football price would drop due to tentative running, miserable offensive line play and negative game script were denied; All Day reins as the most expensive running back in FanDuel two weeks running. It probably helps that no other preseason top-five fantasy RB went nuts in Week 1. Peterson's FanDuel price ($9,000) did drop $200, but still surpasses running backs who obliterated AP's production in Week 1, including value picks Matt Forte ($8,800) and Carlos Hyde ($7,300).

DeAndre Hopkins' fantasy value

Andre Johnson's exit vacated 141 (relatively inefficient) targets, and made DeAndre Hopkins the Texans' go-to receiver. Trailing the Chiefs throughout Week 1 helped with game script, but nine receptions for 98 yards and two scores on 13 targets does confirm a massive uptick in usage for Hopkins in the Johnson void.

Johnson doubled Hopkins' red-zone targets last season and — combined with Arian Foster's absence — this makes Hopkins the key to Houston finding paydirt in 2015. As a result, Hopkins saw a $800 increase on FanDuel in Week 2 to $8,100 as the sixth-most expensive receiver.

Travis Kelce, Tyler Eifert move up TE rankings

Andy Reid knows how to get receivers and tight ends open, but it's hard to expect Travis Kelce to get this open against Denver's defense.

The Broncos' Danny Trevathan is one of the league's best cover linebackers and Aqib Talib has shut down Jimmy Graham in the past, so it would make sense for one or both of them to see snaps against Kelce, whose FanDuel price rose from $6,000 to $6,600 behind Graham and Rob Gronkowski.

The Bengals' Tyler Eifert also changed the fantasy outlook at TE in what was a banner week for the position considering the disappointments at QB, RB and WR. FanDuel juiced Eifert's value from $5,000 — where I recommended him last week in the optimal cash-game lineup — to $5,900 for Week 2.
