Week 2 was rough for fantasy football owners in the way of injuries, and the carnage continued Monday night with Eric Decker heading to the locker room with a knee issue. We're also trying to get clarity on he severity of Drew Brees' shoulder injury, and whether or not rookie Todd Gurley (knee) will make his much-anticipated NFL debut this weekend.

Let’s take a look at the latest injury updates on key fantasy football players heading into Week 3 so we can identify some potential fantasy sleepers and busts.

Will Drew Brees play in Week 3?

Saints QB Drew Brees took a huge hit to his throwing shoulder in Week 2, and while initial rumors were that Brees suffered a torn rotator cuff, an MRI showed just a bruise. Brees is seeking a second opinion to be sure, and ESPN's Ed Werder reports the QB believes there is a "reasonable possibility" he can play Week 3.

While that's all seemingly positive news, it doesn't make us feel any better about the lack of arm strength Brees has shown in the first two games. Brees and his receivers are really struggling right now, and having the QB at any less than 100 percent is bad news for fantasy owners invested in the Saints passing attack.

Eric Decker injury update

Jets WR Eric Decker, who left Monday night's game against the Colts and did not return, is believed to have suffered a PCL injury and will have an MRI on Tuesday. That will help us determine Decker's availability for Week 3. If he can't go, Brandon Marshall would dominate targets for the Jets with Quincy Enunwa stepping up behind him.

Jason Witten's injury status

Cowboys TE Jason Witten, who reportedly sprained both ankles and a knee Sunday against the Eagles, is "not a lock" to play Week 3. Witten is notoriously tough — remember him playing through a lacerated spleen in 2012? — so we wouldn't bet against him as long as both legs are still fully attached. That said, if Witten does miss a game for the first time since his rookie year in 2003, Gavin Escobar would become a nice fantasy sleeper.

Meanwhile, we were already concerned about Witten's long-term fantasy value after the multi-month loss of Tony Romo. Sure, Brandon Weeden may look Witten's way often as a safety blanket, but there are a lot more three-and-outs in the Cowboys' future.

Will Todd Gurley play in Week 3?

Rams coach Jeff Fisher said rookie Todd Gurley (knee) will be a game-time decision again this week. Gurley, nearing the end of his road to recovery from ACL surgery, practiced in full last week but was still inactive.

Even if he suits up in Week 3 against the Steelers, we're expecting Gurley to be on a snap count and play behind Tre Mason. He'll eventually take over the Rams backfield, but it could take a few games.

Austin Seferian-Jenkins out 4-6 weeks

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Buccaneers TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins has been diagnosed with a strained shoulder and will miss 4-6 weeks. Fantasy owners can't count on him returning until after the Bucs' Week 6 bye at the earliest.

It's tough to recommend hanging onto a sleeper TE2 with the bye weeks coming even given ASJ's upside. Brandon Myers is next up for the Bucs, which means Jameis Winston's fantasy value takes a hit with the loss of Seferian-Jenkins.
