DraftKings Week 8 Sunday Night Showdown: Picks, advice for Chiefs vs. Packers NFL DFS image

Chiefs vs. Packers promised to be an amazing Sunday Night Football game -- that is, until Patrick Mahomes was injured and ruled out. There are still plenty of stars on display, though, with Aaron Rodgers, Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce, and Aaron Jones suiting up. Those four guys comprised the core of our DraftKings Showdown lineup for some Week 8 Sunday night DFS action. The best way to play them all was to rely on a cheaper captain, and we'll let Allen Lazard fill that duty as a value play.

Ideally, the Packers control the game early, getting our four Green Bay picks off to a good start. With the Chiefs forced to play catch-up, Matt Moore will have to rely on his top weapons, Hill and Kelce. The two things that would make this lineup fail would be big games from the Chiefs running game or the combo of Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Geronimo Allison.

DraftKings Showdown Picks: Chiefs vs. Packers

CAPTAIN (1.5x points, 1.5x price): WR Allen Lazard, Packers ($6,900)

Lazard was the most-played Packers WR a week ago, and while that could be impacted by a few wideouts getting up to speed after injuries, it seems Lazard has forced his way onto the field. In a game that doesn't feature many reliable players, using Lazard here allows us to play a lot of safe options throughout the rest of the lineup.

WEEK 8 PPR RANKINGS: Running back | Wide receiver | Tight end

FLEX: QB Aaron Rodgers, Packers ($12,000)

You can't fade Rodgers in this game, not unless you think Matt Moore is gonna have a great day. That seems unlikely, so your best chance at points is taking what surely will be a popular Rodgers and letting the rest of our picks differentiate you more.

FLEX: WR Tyreek Hill, Chiefs ($10,000)

Moore found Hill for a long touchdown in Week 7, and we'll have to hope Hill's big-play ability overrides the limitations Moore has as a passer relative to Patrick Mahomes.

FLEX: RB Aaron Jones, Packers ($9,200)

The Chiefs have a vulnerable run defense -- the tougher choice is whether to take a stab at Jamaal Williams or just go with the starter. We've got the salary open to do it, so we'll take Jones and figure he finds the end zone.

FLEX: TE Travis Kelce, Chiefs ($8,800)

Kelce was already disappointing slightly with Mahomes healthy, and now with Mahomes out, it would be fair to doubt him. It just feels like with a backup QB playing, Kansas City will have to rely on its most-talented weapons, and Kelce fits that bill. With Hill and Kelce, if Moore does play well, we should have heavy involvement in it.

FLEX: WR Jake Kumerow, Packers ($2,400)

If Geronimo Allison and Marquez Valdes-Scantling get their playing time back, Kumerow could take the biggest hit. But as Rodgers has shown us year after year, his secondary and tertiary receivers can have fantasy value -- plus Kumerow has great hair.
