DraftKings Week 5 Thursday Night Showdown: Picks, advice for Rams vs. Seahawks NFL DFS image

Rams vs. Seahawks should provide the second straight high-quality Thursday Night Football game when the two teams face off in Seattle. Week 5 provides some bland matchups on Sunday, so at least it gets started with a good one. Because of how talented both teams are, they lend themselves to putting together strong DraftKings Showdown lineups to get your NFL DFS week off to a good star. Besides, any week you can call Greg Zuerlein a daily fantasy football value is a good one.

We've continued to find some tournament success using wide receivers in the captain slot, and we'll do so again for this game with Cooper Kupp leading our lineup. He's the most consistent Rams receiver, and while Robert Woods and Brandin Cooks both seem to have potential for quiet games, Kupp hasn't shown that as often boom-or-bust nature this season. Our Rams-heavy lineup features Jared Goff, Gerald Everett and Zuerlein, but going cheap on two L.A. players allows us to stack Russell Wilson and Chris Carson on the other side.

WEEK 5 NON-PPR RANKINGS:

DraftKings Showdown Picks: Rams vs. Seahawks

CAPTAIN (1.5x points, 1.5x price): WR Cooper Kupp, Rams ($14,400)

Kupp is the best and most consistent Rams receiver, and even a slow start Sunday didn't stop him from topping 100 receiving yards for the third straight game. The Seahawks' defense has long since passed its prime, and Kupp should have the opportunity to run rampant in Seattle's secondary. Another game hitting the century mark for Kupp will be a huge point total to lock into the captain slot.

WEEK 5 PPR RANKINGS: Running backWide receiver | Tight end

FLEX K Greg Zuerlein, Rams ($3,400)

I'd just like one person to explain to me how the kicker with multiple cool nicknames is priced lower than Jason Myers. They're actually both talented placekickers who make for interesting ways to go studs-and-scrubs on this slate, but Zuerlein's potential for a 50-yarder or two makes him my choice.

WEEK 5 DFS LINEUPS:
Y! cash | Y! GPP | FD cash | FD GPP | DK cash | DK GPP

FLEX TE Gerald Everett, Rams ($3,200)

Everett has seen more playing time and passing-game action than Tyler Higbee in each of the last two weeks they've both been healthy, and he's an athletic option for Jared Goff in the middle of the field. The Seahawks allowed Vance McDonald to catch two touchdowns a few weeks ago, so even if Everett doesn't make a ton happen between the 20s, he should have a shot at cashing in the red zone.

MORE WEEK 5 DFS: Top values | Stacks | Lineup Builder

FLEX QB Jared Goff, Rams ($10,200)

Goff threw for more than 500 yards on Sunday, and frankly, the Rams' game plan there was a bit baffling. But it happened once, and despite Goff's interception troubles, there's just too much talent in this passing attack to avoid the cheaper QB on this slate. Besides, we have to stack him with our captain WR.

FLEX QB Russell Wilson, Seahawks ($10,600)

Playing Everett and Zuerlein allows us to get Wilson in here, too, which provides a ton of upside for this lineup. Occasionally, Wilson does more handing off than throwing, but he's more likely to have a big game against a Rams' defense on a short week that just allowed 49 points to Tampa's offense.

FLEX RB Chris Carson, Seahawks ($8,200)

Playing Carson should hopefully get us a hand in every Seahawks' touchdown. One of the more frustrating aspects of these single-game contests is missing out on a score, and at least on the Seahawks side, that shouldn't happen.
