DraftKings Week 4 Thursday Night Showdown: Picks, advice for Eagles-Packers NFL DFS image

Now this is more like it: Packers and Eagles on Thursday Night Football at Lambeau Field. Two historic teams, a legendary venue -- much better than Titans-Jaguars. It's the perfect time to use our picks to throw together a DraftKings Showdown lineup if you're itching for that early NFL DFS action. Our strategy is to be contrarian and use an Eagles-heavy lineup on the road, as Philadelphia is just as likely to put up points as the Packers.

We cashed last Thursday thanks to our captain, DJ Chark. Monday night was a near cash, with the Bears D/ST being a great captain, but we were hurt by not having any of Taylor Gabriel, Paul Richardson or Terry McLaurin. After a few weeks of this, it does seem that if you can nail a solid, cheaper option at the captain spot, you have a shot at a huge night.

WEEK 4 NON-PPR RANKINGS:
Quarterback | Running back | Wide receiver | Tight end | D/ST | Kicker

For this week, that means we're trying Miles Sanders as our captain. He's priced lower than all the slate's top receivers and quarterbacks, along with Aaron Jones. Yet Sanders' consistent usage and explosiveness gives him a decent shot at surpassing a number of those guys in points.

DraftKings Showdown Picks: Eagles vs. Packers

CAPTAIN (1.5x points, 1.5x price): RB Miles Sanders, Eagles ($9,300)

We saw the Sanders half-breakout in Week 3, when he averaged more than four yards per carry and broke off a 40-yard reception on a screen. His price is intriguingly low for a player who's had at least 10 carries each week with multiple catches and brings with him solid big-play ability. We like the chances that almost everyone on this slate pays up for a bigger-name captain, so if we hit on Sanders, we have a leg up.

QB Aaron Rodgers, Packers ($10,800)

Rodgers feels more like a game manager than ever before, but it's hard to predict him having a bad game in prime time at Lambeau Field. You'll feel like an idiot if you leave him out of your one-game lineup on a Thursday night.

MORE WEEK 4 DFS: Top values | Stacks | Lineup Builder

QB Carson Wentz, Eagles ($10,000)

If you're picking one QB off this slate, we'd go with Wentz. His volume, rushing ability, and gunslinger mentality make him more likely to put up big numbers. He always has the potential to run around and extend plays, whether that translates to rushing yardage or not. And we're leaning Eagles in this lineup, so we couldn't leave out the QB.

TE Zach Ertz, Eagles ($9,200)

Ertz hasn't really had a classic Ertz game of anything approaching double-digit receptions yet. Maybe Thursday Night Football will wake him up. The Packers have been statistically stingy against tight ends, but they've only faced Adam Shaheen, Kyle Rudolph and Noah Fant. Ertz is a different breed than those guys.

WEEK 4 PPR RANKINGS: Running back | Wide receiverTight end

WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Packers ($7,600)

To make this lineup work, we faded Davante Adams and are putting our Rodgers' stack in the MVS bucket. Adams might be due for a bounce-back game -- and it never feels great playing a guy who just had a big day -- but this Eagles secondary is cooked, made even worse by Ronald Darby's absence, and it's easy to envision at least one Valdes-Scantling deep ball connecting.

WEEK 4: Waiver pickups | FAAB planner | Trade valuesSnap counts

WR Mack Hollins, Eagles ($2,400)

I expect Alshon Jeffery's activation for this game to depress Hollins' ownership even at this cheap price. But DeSean Jackson (core) will still be out, and in Week 1, the Eagles' third WR still received 52 snaps. Hollins won't be quite the focal point he would've been without Jeffery, but I expect he'll still be on the field a ton, and he's a good mix of size, speed and opportunity at this price.
