LSU vs. Alabama. No. 1 vs. No. 2. The Game of the Century. Call it what you want, but Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET will feature the most-hyped game of the college football regular season. We haven't done DraftKings Showdown lineups for any other CFB games, and we may not again, but this one is deserving of some college fantasy football DFS lineup picks and advice. College football is more prone to blowouts than the NFL is, even in a game such as thi, sso we've got to commit to one side in hopes of jamming our lineup with the team that comes out on top. For this game, we're taking the Tigers to best the Crimson Tide.
That starts with our captain pick, where we go with a wide receiver as we've done often in NFL contests. LSU has three explosive wideouts, but we'll take the middle-priced one, Ja'Marr Chase, to lead the charge. Of course, we have to pair him with QB Joe Burrow. Tua Tagovailoa's health isn't the only reason we're not playing him here -- pricing affects that, too -- but with an ankle injury that could affect his performance even if he plays, we're generally favoring the Tigers.
DraftKings Showdown CFB DFS Picks: Alabama vs. LSU
Captain (1.5x price, 1.5x points): WR Ja'Marr Chase, LSU ($12,900)
To complete this lineup construction, we had to take a step down from the slightly higher priced Justin Jefferson to Chase. They've basically alternated games as the Tigers' most productive WR, so it's really more a coin flip than anything. Because of that, we'll take the $900 savings and plug Chase in as our big-play captain.
FLEX: QB Joe Burrow, LSU ($10,600)
Leaning LSU in this game means we've gotta go with Burrow. Yeah, Alabama's defense is good, but you can't play a contest for this game without one of the QBs, and we'll go with the sure thing that is Burrow versus some injury question marks on the Alabama side.
FLEX: RB Najee Harris, Alabama ($8,200)
This isn't your older brother's LSU-Alabama game, but the Crimson Tide would still be wise to attempt to establish the run, whether Tua is playing or not. If he's in, running more will keep his ankle out of early trouble, and if he's out, it's all the more reason for 'Bama to trust its workhorse running back.
FLEX: WR Devonta Smith, Alabama ($7,600)
We couldn't afford Jerry Jeudy here, so we'll settle for Alabama's second-most productive receiver in Smith. If you want a less common lineup, you can pay a bunch down and go to Henry Ruggs, but Smith has a slightly higher probability of having a good game.
FLEX: WR Terrace Marshall Jr., LSU ($6,800)
Marshall hasn't been as consistent as Chase or Jefferson, but he's always on the field and is nearly as prone to big plays. As our second-cheapest play, we've gotta love his home run potential.
FLEX: K Cade York, LSU ($3,600)
If we're all in on the LSU offense, we might as well wrap it up with the Tigers' kicker. It's hard in a lot of these college football single-game contests to have any grasp of which player at the bottom of a depth chart will play on a given day, so the kicker is more assured production.
