Cesc Fabregas is looking for “fire” from Chelsea when they take on Manchester United in the FA Cup final on Saturday.
The Blues have endured a largely forgettable campaign, with a tame defence of the Premier League title seeing the club finish outside of the top four.
There will be no Champions League football at Stamford Bridge in 2018-19, but there could be more major silverware.
Antonio Conte, in what could be his final game at the helm, can salvage something from a frustrating season by inspiring one last effort from his side at Wembley Stadium.
Fabregas, who will be hoping to lead the charge on Saturday, told reporters on what is expected of Chelsea: "You have to feel the fire inside of you, the hunger you want to show on the pitch and this is something neither me nor the coach can bring to the players.
"The fire - you have it or you don't have it and on Saturday we have to make sure everyone is on top of their game.
"It's the first day we are back training since the Newcastle defeat, obviously we need to play much better but I'm 100 per cent sure we don't even have to say that.
"But, it's a final, it's a big game and I feel that normally in those games you shouldn't have to motivate players to play football because we do what we love and we always have to do it 120 per cent.
"It's a final against United, on a big stage at Wembley, the last game of the season, you just have to go all for it."
For many of those on display at the home of English football, there will be more games to come this season with their respective nations at World Cup 2018.
Fabregas, though, has been frozen out of the Spain squad since Julen Lopetegui inherited the managerial reins on the back of a disappointing showing at Euro 2016.
A World Cup winner and man with 110 caps to his name told Goal in March that he will not be giving up on his efforts to earn a recall, but time is fast running out.
If he is to be overlooked once more, then the 31-year-old will hope to have at least added another FA Cup winners’ medal in his collection to help ease the pain.
