Manchester United are the Europa League champions.

Pogba leads Utd to emotional win

Jose Mourinho's men defeated a vibrant Ajax side at the Friends Arena in Sweden on Wednesday, thanks to goals from Paul Pogba and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

The tournament itself was full of great moments prior to the final, however, and Goal has picked out the 11 best performers from this season's Europa League.

GOALKEEPER | SERGIO ROMERO | MANCHESTER UNITED

Sergio Romero Manchester United

The undisputed No.2 at Manchester United, behind David De Gea, the Argentine has shone when given the chance in the Europa League.

Keeping a clean sheet in every group game in which he played, Romero conceded just four goals since, and also denied Ajax in the final in Sweden.

RIGHT-BACK | ANTONIO VALENCIA | MANCHESTER UNITED

HD Antonio Valencia Manchester United

Formerly a pacy winger with a frustrating end product, Valencia has reinvented himself to become a highly-rated right-back. In nine appearances - with three, including the final, as captain - he did not collect a booking, and has also provided an assist.

CENTRE-BACK | MOUCTAR DIAKHABY | LYON

Lyon Roma Diakhaby Gonalons

Lyon began this season in the Champions League but dropped into the second tier for the Round of 32, and Diakhaby has impressed. Though a part of the defence that shipped four to Ajax, the Frenchman has three goals to his name - including a vital strike against Roma, and collected just one booking.

CENTRE-BACK | DALEY BLIND | MANCHESTER UNITED

Neville XI Daley Blind

A multifunctional defender, Blind has had to rely on the Europa League for his minutes this season, but has proved his worth to Jose Mourinho. The Netherlands international has played at centre-back, left-back and on the left of midfield and remains a key cog in United's European machine, turning in a flawless performance against his former club, Ajax, in the final.

LEFT-BACK | JONNY | CELTA VIGO

Jonny Castro Jesse Lingard Celta Manchester United Europa League

Just 23, Jonny already has over 180 appearances for Celta under his belt, and appears primed to make the breakthrough to the Spanish senior team soon enough, having played 15 times for the Under-21 side.

Not an attacking full-back in the conventional sense, Jonny showed this season that he can ally a keen positional sense with excellent defensive skills. Celta were perhaps unlucky to lose to Manchester United in the semi-finals, but Jonny can maintain a sense of pride at his performances; in 12 appearances, he collected just two yellow cards.

MIDFIELD | HENRIKH MKHITARYAN | MANCHESTER UNITED

Henrikh Mkhitaryan Manchester United Anderlecht

A signing that flew somewhat under the radar last summer, Mkhitaryan has unleashed his creative gifts on a number of opponents this season, none more so than in the Europa League.

The Armenia international scored six goals for the club in the competition, including the decisive second against Ajax in the final, and has shown he can play in a variety of roles, ranging from right winger, to left winger, to a supporting striker.

MIDFIELD | GIULIANO | ZENIT

Giuliano Zenit 12082016

Giuliano is the most productive player to have featured in the Europa League this season. A silky Brazilian attacking midfielder, the Zenit star scored eight goals in eight appearances, and also provided six assists. Though he scored twice and laid on one more against Anderlecht in the Round of 32, his side were eliminated from the competition - depriving fans of more of his magic.

MIDFIELD | HAKIM ZIYECH | AJAX

Hakim Ziyech of Ajax

Another to break through at Ajax, Ziyech has enjoyed a superb Europa League campaign, scoring twice and providing five assists. The Morocco international turned in a virtuoso performance against Lyon in the first leg of their semi-final, providing three assists in a rampant 4-1 win.

ATTACKER | ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC | MANCHESTER UNITED

Zlatan Ibrahimovic Manchester United

Injury may have curtailed a superb maiden season at Manchester United, but Ibrahimovic lit up the Europa League while he was fit, scoring five goals - including a superb hat-trick against Saint-Etienne in the Round of 32 - and also providing five assists.

FORWARD | EDIN DZEKO | ROMA

Edin Dzeko Milan Roma Serie A 07052017

The numbers speak for themselves. Though Roma were eliminated at the Last 16 stage of the competition, Dzeko scored eight goals in eight games, and provided two assists. He remains a player for the big occasion.

FORWARD | KASPER DOLBERG | AJAX

Kasper Dolberg Ajax Europa League

Just 19, Dolberg is already threatening to be the star of this young, vibrant Ajax team. He has scored six goals in the competition, including the vital away goal against Lyon in the second leg of their semi-final. Had he not scored, Manchester United would have faced Lyon in the final, and he will hope to learn from the showpiece encounter as he bids to make it to the top of the game.
