EXTRA TIME
Steven Gerrard has announced his retirement from football after leaving LA Galaxy last week and the Liverpool legend has become the target of trolls who support the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal.
United fans have largely used the announcement as an opportunity to say, "Paul Scholes was better," while Chelsea followers have been quick to remind Liverpool fans of Gerrard's infamous slip in 2014 which allowed Demba Ba to score past the Reds and massively dent their title dreams.
IN STATS: Gerrard's 19-year career
Meanwhile, other Chelsea supporters have highlighted Gerrard's own goal against them in the League Cup final in May 2012.
The former Liverpool captain is regarded as one of the finest midfielders of his generation, but has even been targeted by Arsenal fans as being worse than Patrick Vieira and Cesc Fabregas.
Here are just a few select responses from the many, many rival reactions on Twitter:
Thank you Steven Gerrard for many incredible memories, especially that superb header in Cardiff. We definitely won't forget you.
