Drew Brees had a uniquely bad night against the Cowboys on Thursday, but a moment during his postgame press conference had him smiling a little bit.
Near the end of his round with the media, a reporter can be heard yelling, "Champ, champ!" to get Brees' attention. He then rambled off a bunch of bizarre phrases, some of which I can't even make out, and it left Brees dumbfounded.

The interaction led to a lot of confusion, such as: What did he just ask? Who was that? How was he credentialed?
We can answer some of those questions.
The "reporter" goes by the name Scoops Callahan, whose shtick is to ask players questions in a 1920s style format. He's been around for a few years, asking questions to fellow sports stars such as Bill Belichick, Tom Brady, David Beckham, Phil Mickelson and others.
The person behind the character works for 1310 The Ticket in Dallas. It doesn't look like he's made headlines in a while, but with the game last night being in Arlington, it makes sense why he'd reappear to talk to Brees.
As far as what he was asking about, we can understand the part about the "Bulldog boys from Canton town." It's a reference to the Canton Bulldogs who dominated the NFL in the very early days of the league. In short, he's saying despite the loss, the Saints are still aiming to make a run at the Super Bowl.
Props to Brees for not totally dismissing the guy, and at least answering the question the best he could.
