India and West Indies, in what is their 100th Test match against each other, have played out a rain-hit draw at the Queen's Park Oval in Port of Spain, Trinidad.

Rohit Sharma's side were already 1-0 up in the series, winning by an innings and 141 runs in the first Test at Dominica.

This game was also the 500th India cap for star batsman Virat Kohli who made the occasion memorable with his 76th international century. His ton and Ravichandran Ashwin's half-century helped India post 438 in their first-innings.

After a solid start, West Indies collapsed on Day 4 morning to get bowled out for 255.

India batted with aggression in their second innings to swell their lead to 364, and broke a world record in the process for the fastest-ever Test 100.

They declared soon after, leaving the hosts with the choice of either going all out attack to try and chase a big total or batting out Day 5 to claim a draw after losing two early wickets in their second innings.

West Indies, who ended day 4 at 76/2, needed 289 runs to win while India needed eight wickets. But incessant rain meant no play was possible on Day 5.

India vs West Indies Second Test Day 4 highlights

STUMPS: West Indies 76/2 (Chanderpaul 24* & Blackwood 20*), India 181/2 dec. West Indies need 289 runs to win.

The last session of Day 4 has ended with the West Indies putting up 76 runs for the loss of two wickets, both taken by Ravichandran Ashwin.

India still lead by 288 runs and going by the batting order collapse the hosts suffered in today’s first session, India look like the strong favourites for tomorrow.

With Tagenarine Chanderpaul (24*) and Jermaine Blackwood (20*) at the crease currently for the West Indies, the last day promises to be entertaining.

Will the hosts go for a draw or hunt for a win?

Or will India’s bowling attack tear through them and clinch the series 2-0?

INDIA DECLARE
With the rain having passed, the tourists have wasted no time in continuing to show their intent for quick runs in the second innings.

And after Ishan Kishan has also hit a half century to take the lead out even further, Rohit has seen enough.

India declare at 181/2! That’s a lead of 364.

2:20 pm (local time), 11:55 pm IST: Rain has let up and the sun is showing. The umpires expect play to resume in 25 minutes. Meanwhile, tea on day 4 has already been taken during the rain break.

1:10 pm (local time), 10:45 pm IST: Rain halts play again

India 118/2 (15 overs) lead by 301 runs - Gill 10*, Kishan 8*

India’s batsmen have come out with aggression and intent in the second innings, with the openers Rohit (57) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (38) scoring at more than run-a-ball to swell India's lead past 300.

In fact, such is the pace of their batting that India have set a new world record!

Rohit and Jaiswal led India to a hundred in just 12.2 overs (74 balls), beating the previous landmark of 80 balls that Sri Lanka took to score 100 runs against Bangladesh in 2001.

Rohit also made it a double record, claiming a personal milestone by smashing his fastest Test half-century in 35 balls.

Though Rohit and Jaiswal eventually fell in search of quick runs, Shubman Gill and Kishan are looking to soldier on.

But another spell of rain has stopped play. With only around four sessions remaining in the Test and chances of more rain, India might look to declare soon. However, the rain has to let up first.

11:48 (local time), 9:14 pm IST- It's training in Port of Spain. The players walk out.

10:38 (local time), 8:08 pm IST- Jaiswal and Rohit are back in the crease. India's second innings commences.

10:32 am (local time), 8:02 pm IST- West Indies are bowled out for 255 in 115.4 overs. Mohammed Siraj picks up a fifer to end the hosts' innings. An absolutely stunning bowling performance from the India pacer to hasten the game along, picking the last five wickets in just 7.4 overs.

The second new ball was brilliantly utilised by Siraj, getting movement all around. It was Mukesh Kumar who got the ball rolling, trapping Athanaze LBW with an inswinger. Then, it was the Siraj show. He got Holder to nick an outswinger before trapping Alzarri Joseph LBW with one that jagged back.

Then, he ended the innings with back-to-back wickets, getting Roach to nick behind and then smashing the pads of Shannon Gabriel.

India have a lead 183 runs.

Mohammed Siraj and Ravindra Jadeja picked up a wicket each before play was interrupted by rain.

India ended the day leading by 209 runs and will look to take early wickets tomorrow to start batting quickly.

The hosts are 10 runs away from forcing India to bat again in the second innings. Tomorrow, will West Indies play for a draw or keep the hope alive for a win?

2:45 pm (local time), 00:10 am IST - TEA

West Indies 174/3 (86 overs) - Blackwood 16*, Athanaze 13*, Jadeja 1/19

Tea on day 3 and West Indies have crawled along to 174/3 on the face of some disciplined bowling by the Indian spinners. Windies' reply was led by their captain Kraigg Brathwaite (75) who looked in supreme touch in the second session before a special delivery from Ashwin got him. The off-spinner got a rare one to bite and turn through Brathwaite's forward defensive prod and disturb the stumps.

The pitch has been pretty benign so far and there has been no help for spinners or pacers. However, Jadeja has been miserly, giving away only 19 runs in 19 overs. Unless the pitch breaks up alarmingly, picking wickets won't be easy on this wicket.

11:52 am (local time), 9:22 pm IST- LUNCH has been taken. Match will resume at 12:10 pm local time.

West Indies are 117/2 after 51.4 overs and trail by 321 runs. Mukesh Kumar picked up his maiden Test wicket as he dismissed Kirk McKenzie.

10:55 am (local time), 8:25 pm IST- Rain interruption! Play stopped temporarily.

10:00 am (local time), 7:30 pm IST- Action commences on Day 3.

West Indies trail by 352 runs at the moment. The Indian spinners will aim to pick up some early wickets and put the pressure back on the hosts.

India vs West Indies Day 2 highlights

STUMPS: West Indies 86/1 (Brathwaite 37* & McKenzie 14*) trail by 352 runs. India 438 all out.

While the talking point of Day 2 remains Kohli's 29th test ton, the West Indies have at least put up a tough fight against the tourists.

For the first time this series, India were bowled out by the hosts. Jomel Warrican and Kemar Roach kept the wickets coming during the second session and restricted India to a total of 438.

In the final session of the day, the West Indies' openers, Kraigg Brathwaite and Tagenarine Chanderpaul, remained steady and watchful but had their partnership broken by Ravindra Jadeja, who breached Chanderpaul’s defensive strategy.

However, the Indian bowlers managed to restrict the run rate to 2.09, even though they got just a single wicket.

With the hosts fighting back against a confident- looking Indian side, Day 3 is bound to be an entertaining one.

2:28 pm (local time), 11:58 pm IST - TEA: India 438 all out (128 overs)

India have been bowled out for the first time this series by West Indies and the umpires have decided to take early tea.

After Kohli's superlative ton in the first session, there wasn't anything notable in the second session, save for Ravichandran Ashwin's useful contribution of 56 that helped swell India's first innings total to 438.

Ishan Kishan was the first wicket to fall in this session, guiding Jason Holder to the wicketkeeper. Thereafter, Warrican sent back Jaydev Unadkat who was stumped and Mohammed Siraj who was trapped LBW while sweeping.

Ashwin, meanwhile, struck a few lusty blows to bring up a half-century before getting bowled by Roach in an attempt to score quickly. The pitch is on the slower side and there are visible cracks which India's spinners should relish when they come out to bowl in the third session.

12:00 (local time), 9:30 pm IST- LUNCH, India 373/6 after 108 overs.

An eventful first session saw Kohli scoring his 76th international century before getting run out. Ravindra Jadeja supported him ably scoring 61 off 152 balls.

India vs West Indies Day 1 highlights

STUMPS on Day 1:

India 288/4 (84 overs) - Kohli 87* & Jadeja 36*, Warrican 1/55, Holder 1/30

A wicketless third session puts India back on track after the four-wicket haul in the middle session for the West Indies. Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja put up a 100-run partnership to end Day 1.

Kohli’s consistent strike rotation and Jadeja’s strong defence proved to be much-needed stabilisers for the tourists after a rocky second session.

The perfect start given to India by Rohit (80) and Jaiswal (57) earlier in the day was undone when the West Indies bowling attack rattled India's batting order via Holder, Roach, Gabriel, and Warrican.

But the runs started coming in in the last session as Kohli’s timely boundaries and Jadeja's anchoring efforts gave India the edge when stumps were called.

For the hosts, Day 2 will be crucial with the new ball coming in. Kohli’s 87* on Day 1 sets him up for another century. Can he get his 29th Test 100 on Day 2?

2:44 pm (local time), 12:14 am IST: TEA on Day 1

India 182/4 - Kohli 18*, Holder 1/22, Warrican 1/26

Probably for the first time in this two-Test series, West Indies have comprehensively won a session. And boy did they need that after the rollicking 139-run stand that Rohit (80) and Jaiswal (57) put together.

India have managed to score just 61 runs this session and have lost four top-order batsmen in the face of some disciplined bowling from the Windies.

It was Jaiswal who fell first soon after lunch. Holder forced a loose drive from Jaiswal and he could only edge it to gully. Shubman Gill (10) was the next to fall, wafting at a delivery outside off from Kemar Roach and nicking behind.

Rohit, who looked destined for a century, was then cleaned up by a beauty from left-arm spinner Warrican. Kohli and Rahane sort of arrested the slump but it was slow going by the two. However, in the last over before tea, Rahane (8) played on to a Shannon Gabriel delivery and lost his off-stump.

12:36 pm (local time), 9:36 pm IST: LUNCH! India 121/0 after 26 overs.

It has been fruitful first session for the visitors with openers delivering with the bat once.

Rohit is unbeaten at 63 off 102 balls while Jaiswal scored 52 off 56 deliveries.
