There were questions raised on the performance of star Indian batters, including Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who could not cope with the pace and swing of Afridi, Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah.
Former India opener Gautam Gambhir, who had a famous feud with Virat Kohli during IPL 2023, lambasted the star batsman for the way he got out. The former India skipper was dismissed for four runs by Pakistani pacer Shaheen Afridi.

Gambhir was honest in speaking his mind out as Kohli failed to perform against Pakistan at the ongoing Asia Cup 2023. He said that the Delhi-born cricketer played a "nothing" shot. He added that Kohli was a bit casual in playing his shot off Afridi's bowling.
Gambhir said on Star Sports, "That was a nothing shot, neither forward, neither back. I think was a bit casual. That's what you get when you play someone like Shaheen Afridi. You don't know whether to go forward or back".
