India and Pakistan are all set to face off for the second time in this year's Asia Cup as the two arch-rivals meet in the Super Four stage of the tournament.

The first match was abandoned with no result after incessant rain meant the second innings could not be played. Batting first, India had been rocked early and were reeling at 66/4 before Ishan Kishan (82) and Hardik Pandya (87) led a recovery effort to 266.

Pakistan played their first Super Four match against Bangladesh on 6 September in Lahore. Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah proved too hot for Bangladesh to handle as Pakistan bowled them out for 193. In reply, fifties from Imam-ul-Haq (78) and Mohammad Rizwan (63*) made sure Pakistan completed the chase with minimal fuss.

All eyes will be on the Indian top order today, to see how they cope with Pakistan's pace bowling arsenal. Even if Shaheen Shah Afridi is the star, Haris and Naseem are equally dangerous.

Monday, 11 September

10:54pm- It's all over. Pakistan bowled out for 128 runs as India register a comprehensive 228-run win over their rivals. Kuldeep Yadav gets a fifer as he cleans up the Pakistan tail in quick succession.

10:44pm- WICKET! Kuldeep Yadav sends Iftikhar back to the pavilion as the Pakistani batsman gets caught and bowled. Pakistan are 119/7.

10:37pm- WICKET! Kuldeep Yadav strikes again for India as Shadab Khan departs.

10:23pm- WICKET! Salman Agha departs, LBW as Pakistan lose their fifth wicket. Kuldeep Yadav picks up his maiden wicket of the game.

10:02pm- WICKET! Pakistan lose their fourth wicket as Kuldeep Yadav dismissed Fakhar Zaman.

9:24pm- WICKET! Another Pakistani batsman departs as Shardul Thakur gets Mohammad Rizwan. Rizwan edges Thakur's delivery and gets caught behind. KL Rahul takes the catch. Pakistan 47/3.

9:20pm- Play resumes! It's still a 50-over run chase.

9:10pm- The covers off. The players are getting ready to come out on the pitch.

8:30pm- It's still raining in Colombo but not to worry as the game can start as late as 11:15pm IST.

8:08pm- Play has been interrupted due to rain again.

8:04pm- WICKET! A big wicket for India as Hardik Pandya gets Babar Azam. The Pakistan captain gets bowled for just 10 runs. Pakistan 43/2.

8:00pm- Pakistan are 43/1 after the first 10 overs.

7:34pm- WICKET! Bumrah strikes early for India as he gets danger man Imam-up-Haq's wicket. The southpaw misjudged the delivery and nicked the ball to the second slip and Shubman Gill took the catch. Pakistan 17/1 in 4.2 overs.

7:21pm- Pakistan start their innings. Imam-ul-Haq and Fakhar Zaman on the crease.

6:39pm- It has been an exhibition of batting from Kohli and Rahul today. Spectacular centuries from the two, and Kohli has broken more than a few records here today. Pakistan were hamstrung by Rauf's absence and this will be a steep chase for them (provided the rain stays away). India 356/2 in 50 overs (Kohli 122*, Rahul 111*).

6:11pm- India have continued to punish Iftikhar, and neither batter has looked in danger of getting out so far. The partnership has crossed 150 and these last 5 overs need to maximised from India's point of view. Babar on the other hand will be hoping his bowlers can start to make a fist of this game here. India 300/2 in 45 overs (Kohli 83*, Rahul 95*).

5:50pm- Kohli and Rahul have been pulling out some fantastic shots here and they've both crossed 50. With 10 overs to go, wickets in hand and rain around, there should be no bar to more aggressive intent now. 350+ could be on the cards, especially without Rauf bowling. India 251/2 in 40 overs (Kohli 57*, Rahul 72*).

5:26pm- This partnership has started to settle, and both batters have started to open up a bit more. Rauf's absence is proving troublesome, as Pakistan are trying to make up his overs with Iftikhar's part-time spin, but Rahul in particular has been severe on him and Shadab Khan so far, motoring past his half-century too. India 225/2 in 35 overs (Kohli 40*, Rahul 63*).

5:04pm- It feels nice to finally be talking about the cricket again. Kohli and Rahul have started cautiously, but Babar Azam seems a bit defensive as well with his tactics. Pakistan have also burned their second review, but the run rate has dropped below a run-a-ball. India 175/2 in 30 overs (Kohli 22*, Rahul 31*).

4:41pm- Finally, this match is underway again, almost 24 hours since the last ball was bowled. Shadab Khan to KL Rahul, tossed up on middle and defended. India 147/2 in 24.2 overs (Kohli 8*, Rahul 17*)

4:30pm- Great news here. The results of the pitch inspection are in, and we have a game on. The umpires have informed the teams that we will have a 4:40pm start, with India resuming on 147/2 in 24.1 overs. News also coming out now that Haris Rauf will not bowl in this match anymore as a precautionary measure after he felt a niggle yesterday.

4:10pm- The covers on the ground have been almost completely removed, and from the television pictures, it looks quite good so far. Virat Kohli has come out to face some throwdowns, and the umpires had a chat with India coach Rahul Dravid a few minutes ago. Fingers crossed that we will be underway soon. A pitch inspection is scheduled for 4:20pm.

3:51pm- Several of the covers have come off the outfield, and the rain stopped about 10-15 minutes ago. The players seem to be getting ready to go out for their warm-up routines, and the umpires have just gone down to have a look at the outfield. We may have news on an inspection soon.

3:28pm- And here we go again. It's started drizzling in Colombo again. It isn't very heavy, but the covers are beginning to come back on. Frustrating as it is for all the players and viewers, at this point you really have to feel for the ground staff, who have had the most thankless job of all since yesterday.

2:44pm- The good news is that the rain has stopped and that the ground staff are slowly beginning to remove the covers. We will have a delayed start but at this point perhaps we should be thankful that there's a start at all.

1:57pm- It feels almost inevitable at this point. As late as half an hour ago, the skies were still clear but another downpour has begun in Colombo. If we're lucky it could pass quickly and the match can resume on time at 3:00 pm. The outfield and square are both covered right now.

11:40am- Here we are on Monday 11 September for the reserve day of this India-Pakistan clash. A weather update for today; there was rain around in Colombo in the early hours of the morning, but as of now, the skies are clear. Rain is predicted around the match start time of 3:00pm local time with a 70-75% chance, so the threat of a washout still looms large over this match.

Sunday, 10 September

8:55pm- Virat Kohli and KL Rahul will come out to bat tomorrow as India will resume their innings at 147/2. Join us here again on Monday as the arch-rivals will fight it out at Colombo.

8:50pm- Game has been suspended and the reserve day is activated. The match will resume on Monday again.

8:30pm- Play continues to remain suspended as rain returns in Colombo!

7:51pm- There is official confirmation now that a second pitch inspection has been scheduled for 8:00pm.

7:01pm- The umpires have spoken with India captain Rohit Sharma, and there are decisions to be made for if/when the game will restart. Rohit, India coach Rahul Dravid and Pakistan bowling coach Morne Morkel are just checking out the outfield now. There will be a pitch inspection at 7:30pm local time.

6:20pm- Covers are coming off here and there, and there are visuals of the ground staff hard at work to dry the outfield. Fingers crossed we get to resume soon.

6:12pm- Well, a drizzle has begun again, and the covers are being put back on the ground. We're closing in on the point from which we would start to lose overs.

6:01pm- A few of the outfield covers have started to come off now. The rain seems to have stopped, but still no sign of play resuming yet.

4:54pm- PLAY INTERRUPTED BY RAIN- The sky had been darkening for a few minutes, and now the heavens have opened up, as the weather forecasts predicted. The players are off, the covers are on and it is really pouring here. This could be a long delay, and you can read more about the Colombo weather report here.

But here's what's happened so far.

India are still scoring briskly. The blistering start from the openers has meant that the two in the middle now can take a bit more time. KL Rahul has looked sharp on his return from injury, and Kohli is just starting to tuck into this innings. India 147/2 in 24.1 overs (Kohli 8*, Rahul 17*).

4:34pm- Just as things were starting to get hairy for Pakistan, they managed to pull the game back with the wickets of both openers in consecutive overs. Shadab has been a bit all over the place so far, and will need to work on that. With another wicket in the next three overs or so, Pakistan could really put the brakes on the scoring. India 135/2 in 20 overs (Kohli 5*, Rahul 9*).

4:27pm- WICKET! You just can't keep Shaheen out of the game! He had a poor first spell, but returns now and removes the dangerous Shubman Gill. Lovely change of pace with the off-cutter, Gill was through the shot early and just lobbed it to Agha Salman at cover, for 58. Here's KL Rahul. India 123/2 in 17.5 overs (Kohli 2*, Rahul 0*).

4:20pm- WICKET! Tossed up outside off stump by Shadab Khan. Rohit tries to continue with the aggressive intent but doesn't quite get it out of the meat of the bat. His attempted lofted shot over covers is well taken by Faheem Ashraf, and he's gone for 56. In comes Virat Kohli. India 121/1 in 16.4 overs (Kohli 0*, Gill 53*).

4:08pm- After a sedate first 10 overs, Rohit has begun to open up as well. Both batters have scored half-centuries at over a run-a-ball, and the signs are looking ominous for Pakistan. Shadab Khan has looked a shadow of his usual self, and Haris Rauf has been ineffective as well. India 115/0 in 15 overs (Rohit 55*, Gill 53*).

3:45pm- Shubman Gill has been the aggressor in this opening partnership for India, but he has been a bit lucky as three thick edges off Naseem Shah have not found the fielders. Shaheen has not been at his best so far while Naseem is the primary reason the scoring rate isn't higher than it already is. India 61/0 in 10 overs (Rohit 18*, Gill 41*).

3:22pm- India have batted positively so far, making the most of any loose deliveries and have used their feet to good effect. Shaheen hasn't quite gotten his radar right yet and Gill is punishing him for it, but Naseem has extracted good movement and bounce from the wicket, giving the batters something to think about. India 37/0 in 5 overs (Rohit 10*, Gill 25*).

3:00pm- Here we go for India vs Pakistan, Round 2 at this Asia Cup. Shaheen Shah Afridi with ball in hand, Rohit Sharma the batter. Goes for the nip-backer first up, safely negotiated. India 0/0 in 0.1 overs (Rohit 0*, Gill 0*).

Lineups: Pakistan unchanged, Bumrah returns for India

Pakistan revealed their lineup for this game yesterday. They are going in with an unchanged lineup from the game against Bangladesh. India have made two changes, as new father Jasprit Bumrah takes the place of Mohammed Shami and KL Rahul returns to action, in place of Shreyas Iyer who is suffering from a back spasm.

India playing XI: Rohit Sharma (c), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul (wk), Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah.

Pakistan playing XI: Fakhar Zaman, Imam-ul-Haq, Babar Azam (c), Mohammad Rizwan (wk), Agha Salman, Iftikhar Ahmed, Shadab Khan, Faheem Ashraf, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf.

Toss: Pakistan to field first

2:34pm- Pakistan captain Babar Azam has won the toss and has chosen to field first. The weather has been clear all morning in Colombo, but he says they are looking to exploit a little bit of moisture around with the humidity.

11:00am- Sunny weather in Colombo for now

At around 11:00am local time, the weather is looking clear. However, rain is forecast around the start of the game which could lead to a truncated or even washed out game. If that happens, there is a reserve day set aside, which will see a continuation of the match. This game alone has that provision in the Super Four stage, a move that has proven quite controversial.
