Stokes came out of ODI retirement at the request of the ECB for the upcoming ICC ODI World Cup. For now, the decision is proving to be a masterstroke, as the 32-year-old has hit the ground running.
After scoring 182, whose all-time England ODI record did Stokes break?
Stokes' 182 is the highest individual score by an England batsman in ODI history. The previous-best was held by Jason Roy, who scored 180. The opener scored 180 iff 151 deliveries against Australia at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in 2018.
Courtesy of Roy's blistering inning, England chased down a whopping target of 305. Roy hit 16 boundaries and five sixes as he broke the then-record of 171 runs, set by Alex Hales in 2016.
