India and Pakistan locked horns in the Asia Cup for the second time in the ongoing edition on Sunday in Colombo

Pakistan and India qualified from Group A by winning their respective matches against Nepal while their head-to-head clash got washed out due to rain.

Similar to their first enouncter, the match on Sunday got suspended due to rains but unlike the group stage match, the Super Four clash has a reserve day and the match will resume on Monday.

Thunderstorms are once again predicted on Monday with rain likely to interrupt the match once again.

Colombo has seen some extreme weather conditions throughout the past few days. The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) gave the green light to Colombo as the venue for the knockout rounds, but it may not turn out to be a wise decision, as per the weather report. 

There have been showers reported in Colombo throughout the past week including Sunday, September 10 which halted the match.

There was rain in the early hours of Monday morning in Colombo, which abated fairly quickly. There are clear skies as of 11:30am local time, but chances of rain towards the match start time of 3:00pm are hovering around 70-75%.

Even on Sunday, the sky remained clear pre-match and almost throughout the 24.1 overs that were played before it began to pour.

Chances of rain interrupting India vs Pakistan:

The match will restart at 3:00 pm IST and rain is predicted throughout the day, with the cloud cover to remain on the upside. There are increased chances of rain playing a spoilsport on the reserve day as well. The chances of rainfall at different hours throughout the day are as follows:

  • 1:30 pm: 100%
  • 3:30 pm: 100%
  • 5:30 pm: 74%
  • 7:30 pm: 84%
