What did Michael Vaughan say?

On the cricket podcast ‘Club Prairie Fire’ Gilchrist asked if "Virat Kohli going to go past Sachin?"

Vaughan immediately came up with a cheeky response and said, "I don't think Virat can ever be judged in greatness until he gets a hundred in the Yorkshire leagues.

What is Virat like batting when he walks out and tries to take his mark, he slides on the wet. Can he bat in full studs? That's my question."

Vaughan had earlier picked Kohli ahead of Tendulkar while naming his all-time World XI.

He even ranked the India international ahead of West Indies great Brian Lara in his recent column for Fox Sports.

Kohli better than Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara and Ricky Ponting?

"I have not seen a better player. I’m not disrespecting Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara or Ricky Ponting but across three formats of the game I have not seen anyone better,” Vaughan wrote about Kohli.

"He has such high skill levels and an incredible mentality when it comes to dealing with the pressure of the chase. All that while dealing with a weight of expectation and adulation that only Sachin would have experienced,” he added.

What next for Virat Kohli?

Kohli has blown hot and cold in the ongoing Asia Cup. He was bowled for four in the first group stage game against Pakistan. However, he came back strongly and hit his 47th ODI hundred as he remained not out on 122 off 94 balls and helped India post a formidable total of 356/2 in 50 overs against the same opponents in the Super 4 match.

In the next match,  Kohli got out fast against Sri Lanka after scoring just three runs in 12 balls. The man who scored a century just a day back against Pakistan got dismissed by Dunith Wellalage as his catch went straight to Dasun Shanaka.

Kohli was rested against Bangladesh but he will be back in action against Sri Lanka on Sunday in the Asia Cup final.
