Christian Pulisic has predicted the United States will emerge victorious when the side meets Mexico at the Azteca Stadium on Sunday.

The Borussia Dortmund teenager once again stepped up for his national team, scoring both goals in the USA’s 2-0 victory over Trinidad & Tobago in World Cup qualifying Thursday.

While the victory at home was crucial for the USA’s hopes of qualifying, a daunting task is on deck as the country has never won a qualifying match at the Azteca Stadium.

USA is Pulisic's team now

Pulisic expects a difficult contest for the USA, which lost to Mexico 2-1 at home to start this round of World Cup qualifying, but he predicted a historic first victory for the visitors.

“It’s going to be a tough one down there, in Mexico especially, but we really want some revenge on them for when they got us earlier this year,” Pulisic told Fox Sports after the game.

“So we’re really confident going in that game and we’re going to come out with a win there, too.”

Not only will the USA have to break a historical trend if it wants to win in Mexico, it would also have to reverse recent history. El Tri has won the last two competitive meetings against the USA, with both wins coming on the road for Mexico.

However the USA did get a result in its last trip to Mexico, securing a 0-0 draw in 2014 World Cup qualifying.

And the USA has the teenager in fine form for the contest Sunday, as he has now scored in three of his last four national team appearances, with four goals over that span.
