Top-seeded Texas will try to earn its spot in the Women's College World Series finals on Monday evening, as the Longhorns look for a chance to avenge their defeat in 2022. Standing in their way is a tough Stanford team that starved off elimination with a 3-1 win over Pac-12 foe UCLA on Sunday night.

Texas has gone 7-1 this tournament, with its only loss coming at the hands of Texas A&M in the Austin Super Regional. One of the Longhorns' wins was a 4-0 victory over the Cardinal in their opening game of the WCWS on Thursday. The Longhorns' bats have been active, evident by their plus-39 run differential. They've won in every way possible so far, winning blowouts, a pair of one-run games against the Aggies, and posting consecutive shutouts to start WCWS play.

Stanford's season is still going thanks in large part to 2024 USA Softball Player of the Year NiJaree Canady. The star pitcher was in terrific form against UCLA on Sunday, going the distance and recording eight strikeouts while only allowing four hits and one run. She'll be expected to get the ball in the circle once again as the Cardinal look to fend off elimination two more times and advance to the final.

If the Cardinal can win the rematch, the teams will immediately square off again on Monday night in an elimination game.
