The Tar Heels ousted defending champion LSU to escape the Chapel Hill regional. Afterwards, they withstood upset-minded West Virginia to punch their ticket to Omaha for the first time since 2018.
Junior outfielder Vance Honeycutt propels North Carolina's offense; the power-hitter recently set a single-season program record with his 26th home run of the year. He has hit four so far in the NCAA Tournament, including two in the Super Regionals.
The Cavaliers outlasted Mississippi State and then Kansas State to advance to the program's second consecutive College World Series; it's their third trip to Omaha in the past four seasons.
