In a shocking turn of events, defending NCAA gymnastics champion Oklahoma has been eliminated from contention following the semifinal round. Utah and Florida took down the Sooners in the second semifinal session, and LSU and California came out on top in the first session.
Now, only four teams remain in the chase for the title. LSU had the highest semifinal score of all the finalists, and the Tigers' Haleigh Bryant is riding high after capturing the all-around title, narrowly beating out Olympian Jade Carey from Oregon State.
All finalists except for California participated in the championships last year with Oklahoma. Now, No. 2 LSU is the favorite for the title with the Sooners out of the picture, but California, Florida and Utah won't make it easy for the Tigers.
