No. 2 Boston College and No. 5 Michigan are set to meet in the quarterfinals of the NCAA women's lacrosse tournament on Thursday afternoon.

The upstart Wolverines are primed for their first-ever appearance in the NCAA quarterfinals. Michigan defeated Mercer, 17-6, and No. 4 Notre Dame, 15-14, last weekend to advance in the NCAA Tournament. Junior Jill Smith played hero against the Fighting Irish with a last-second goal, vaulting the Wolverines into the next round.

Michigan is led by stout goalkeeping from junior Erin O'Grady, who leads the nation in goals against average, at 6.96.

The Eagles are continuing their quest for redemption after falling in the title game last year to Northwestern, 18-6. Boston College raced past Princeton, 21-16, in a chaotic second-round matchup. Six different players scored three or more goals.

B.C. is led by junior Rachel Clark (team-high 67 goals) and junior Mckenna Davis (team-high 63 assists)

This is the first meeting between the two programs.
