Charly Musonda made his Premier League debut in Chelsea's 2-3 defeat to Burnley at the weekend to become the latest Blues youngster to be integrated into the first team.
It was a poor afternoon for the champions but there was at least some excitement as a diminutive, skillful attacking midfielder from Brussels finally made his league debut after signing for the club in 2012.
It's not been a direct path straight to the first-team, however, with the 20-year-old having previously spent time on loan at Real Betis, making 16 appearances and 13 starts for the club last season.
Musonda is highly regarded at Chelsea, though, and he was recalled from his loan deal at Betis after a change of coach had meant his opportunities had diminished.
Kenedy's loan move to Newcastle delayed
Antonio Conte said last season that he "has the quality to become a great player" and has been impressed when he has trained with the first team.
And it seems Chelsea are ready to give him a chance this season, having first handed him a squad number for the 2017-18 campaign before bringing him on as a second-half substitute against Arsenal at Wembley and then Burnley.
