Fantasy Football: Real Madrid and Juventus stars for present and future image

With both ties seemingly over already, it’s time to look ahead. With a limited amount of allowed transfers in the Goal game you could anticipate the Champions League final and begin to load up on the two most likely participants - Juventus and Real Madrid.

Below are listed options from each position that should do well in the remainder of this round and the next.

Gonzalo Higuain (Forward, Juventus, Price: 8.2, Ownership: 17%)

Despite missing plenty of chances in the first leg against Monaco, Higuain still managed to find the back of the net twice. He is a terrific fantasy asset when on form, and he is just that, having scored five goals in his last five matches in Serie A. Juventus should continue to get on the score sheet and, when they do, it’s Higuain more often than not considering he has scored more than a third of all their goals this season.

Toni Kroos (Midfielder, Real Madrid, Price: 6.6, Ownership: 15.39%)

Despite playing a somewhat deep role for Real Madrid, Kroos still leads the team in assists and is top five in La Liga in that category. He also sits top 10 in both chances created and accurate crosses. While he is not nearly as tantalising an option as Ronaldo, the German’s low price will make him a crucial component for any team trying to make the money work in advance of the final.

Marcelo (Defender, Real Madrid, Price: 6.3, Ownership: 11.78%)

The Juventus defenders are too obvious, so let’s mix things up a bit. Marcelo, like Kroos, is no stranger to the assist as he leads all La Liga defenders with nine. That’s the same amount of assists as some Argentinian named Lionel Messi. Whether or not Real Madrid will keep clean sheets in their remaining Champions League matches is yet to be seen, but there are no wing-backs with more attacking upside than the Brazilian.

Gianluigi Buffon (Goalkeeper, Juventus, Price: 7.1, Ownership: 22.16%)

As was mentioned in last week’s team of the week, Juventus have now gone over nine hours without conceding a Champions League goal. Just think about how incredible that is. Buffon has admitted that he told himself that he would retire at the end of the season but there’s still plenty of fantasy value to squeeze out of him for as long as he puts on his gloves.
