Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah believes Argentina captain and Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi is the best player in the world.

Although, Portugal and Real Madrid icon Cristiano Ronaldo was adjudged the 2017 Fifa World best player last month, the Black Stars gaffer believes he comes nowhere near Messi, when he was asked to choose between the two great players.

“Messi is my best player in the world [ahead of Ronaldo,]," Appiah told Metro TV.

"He is a player who makes a difference in games. He is a kind of player that is a good passer of the ball, good dribbler, and a good header of the ball," he said.

“In actual fact, he is a one-man player, if you take him out, you see clearly how the team suffers so for me he is a great player,” he added.

Appiah also insisted that he will never fear the sack in his second term as the Black Stars coach despite his side's inability to qualify for the 2018 Fifa World Cup.

''You see, you learn a lot and there are so many things that happen in the background. In my first spell, I was afraid of so many things like getting the sack,'' Appiah said.

''But now, I am not afraid of getting the sack. I am not afraid of taking any decision. There is nothing I am afraid of now because at the end of the day, if it does not go well, it is all on me.

''I always do all I need to in order to get the best out of my work. People can suggest but they cannot interfere with my work,'' he added.
