Alexis Sanchez has issued a battle cry ahead of Arsenal's Champions League last 16 return leg at home to Bayern Munich on Tuesday, ignoring reports that he's set to leave the club this summer.

Rumours are rife that Paris Saint-Germain are at the front of the queue should Arsenal fail to offer him a new contract that appeals, with his current deal running out on June 30, 2018.

Ozil ruled out of crucial Arsenal clash

Arsene Wenger denied reports on Sunday that suggested Sanchez had been involved in a bust-up with team-mates during the week, which allegedly led to him being benched for the start of Saturday's 3-1 defeat to Liverpool.

Wenger received a lot of criticism for that decision to start without his star forward, who unquestionably brought the Gunners to life when substituted on at half-time at Anfield.

Minutes after Wenger's press conference on Monday, Sanchez put out a picture of him in an Arsenal shirt on social media with the caption: "The true warrior fights not because he hates the ones in front of him, but because he loves those behind him.

"Let's go Gunners. The only failure is not trying."

The caption is a paraphrasing of a quote by renowned English writer and poet GK Chesterton.

Man Utd duo in Worst Team of the Week

Sanchez is widely expected to start against Bayern as they chase a 5-1 deficit at the Emirates Stadium.

To overturn the lead that Carlo Ancelotti's side have would be unprecedented for Arsenal in the European competition, but fans will be desperately willing them to avoid yet another Champions League last 16 exit.
